Katherine

I sat in the living room, watching my girls play on the floor. I stared at them. I'm not the best mom in the world. We all know that. But I can't stand the thought of them losing me or me losing them. They deserve the world. Brooke came up to me with an Elsa doll and showed me.

"Mama, hoo thish?" She asked, staring at me.

"That's Elsa, baby. Shes a princess that has powers." I replied, smiling softly.

"Powersh?" Brooke looked confused.

"Ice powers. She makes the countries cold and builds snowmen and even ice buildings."

Brooke gasped and put a dramatic hand on her mouth. I laughed slightly.

She went back over to her sister and told them the revelations from our small chat about Elsa and Ruby looked at me so I could sign. Ruby's jaw hung open.

The door opened and in walked the team. Kaleb was sleeping in the guest room upstairs. He lost it when we made it out the funeral home and cried all the way here and now he's sleeping it off.

"Hey." Brian came over to me immediately.

"Hi." I waved.

The girls dropped their toys and ran to give Brian hugs and kisses.

I smiled.

"You left abruptly." Brian said to me. He picked Brooke and Quinn up and Ruby held on to his leg as he sat next to me.

"Why would I stay?" I frowned in confusion.

Brian gave me a look.

"I said what I needed to and that was it."

Brian nodded slowly, something seeming to click.

"How are you feeling?" Dom asked me.

"I'm fine." I lied. Inside, I wanted to cry.

"Katherine." Dom began.

"Jesus can we not do this? I know you're all waiting for this big ass episode where I either kill everyone or completely shut down but I'm not." I smiled. "I'm fine."

"Reality hasn't hit you yet?" Tej guessed.

I paused and this intense urge hit me out of nowhere and I began to laugh hysterically. I couldn't help it. I couldn't stop it. Jesus!

"Reality? Ah! You're so stupid!" I wheezed. "Reality is that he's dead, buried right now next to the other significant leaders in this world. Reality is that he kept a secret from all of us and decided to just go. Reality is saying goodbye at a funeral!"

Everyone looked at me. The girls began to giggle, too. They didn't know what it was about. I didn't even know myself.

"Reality is losing everything!" I continued. I was laughing so hard I was tearing up. "My Father, my mother, my friends, my love, my child, my best friend, my team, my mentor and most of all, myself!"

Brian looked uncomfortable.

"Yeah. I've came in tune with reality long before this bullshit move Nobody made. This isn't going to break me. So keep holding your breaths! Oh my goodness. That was hilarious. Nobody is dead! Hahahaha! He's gone forever!"

Kaleb stumbled down the stairs. He looked groggy. Alina made eye contact with him and she looked like she knew that Kaleb was going down a dark path. I could see she was exhausted from dealing with him.

"Reality has hit me like a bitch many years ago. So hard that it's all I see. I don't see fairytales, I don't see pink sky's and rainbows with gold at the end. I see the real and raw shit on a day to day basis."

I stood and straightened my glasses. "Now, I'm going to have to go to the office because I need to get in touch with China's bases. I'll be home to put the girls to sleep."

Brian just watched as I stormed out of the room. He didn't attempt to stop me. I'm pretty sure I would've killed him instantly. I just needed to escape. I didn't want to see their sympathetic eyes. I wanted to see paperwork. Yes. Paperwork.
