"Mommy loves you all, okay? I'll be back soon. Daddy will, too. And we'll go back home and eat loads and loads of ice cream while we all watch The Princess Frog." I sign/spoke.

My girls high five. Jonathan stares at me.

"And then we'll watch Cars." I winked at him.

He broke out in a smile and hugged me.

They all hugged me tightly as I kissed them. It took a lot of me to not cry.

"Will Brian return?" Dan asked me from his front steps. I walked over to him while the kids talked to Alina and Kaleb.

"Without me, not a chance. That's why I'm doing what I must."

Dan nodded. "You guys were out."

"We were. For a long time. But now we must fight to protect those closest to us. And I'll fight the world for my husband."

Leslie came out of the house. She was setting up her room so the kids can stay there until we get back.

"New haircut?" She gave me a hug.

"Short is sexier. You should cut this blonde bullshit off." I joked. She laughed.

"He doesn't keep in touch with us. Maybe once every three months. Have him call us sometime. I want him to meet my boyfriend."

"Boyfriend?" I jerked my head back.

"Met him my first day of college. Started as friends, now we're inseparable."

"Listen here, if he hurts you, you know who to call."

"We don't need you to kill him. Jesus." Dan waved his hand.

We all laughed.

"Be safe." Leslie hugged me again.

"And good luck." Dan nodded.

I winked and walked to the kids.

"We have to go, babies." I started to cry but held it together. "Go with grandpa. And girls! No fighting Jonathan."

The girls nodded and ran inside. Alina, Kaleb and I got in our car. Jonathan stood on the sidewalk, watching. I waved him over.

"Don't tell your siblings, but you're my lucky one. My favorite. My miracle. My little warrior. I love you. I'll bring you something back."

He gave me a cheesy smile and nodded.

"I love you, Mommy."

I ruffled his hair and started the car. I sped off, waving at him. I saw him walk back to the house.

"FUCK!" Kaleb was crying.

I saw Alina crying, too. I began to cry.

"My babies will be fine until I get back. So stop fucking crying!" I sobbed.

They didn't stop. Neither did I.
