"Since love grows within you, so beauty grows. For love is the beauty of the soul."

'It looks like the unsub attempted to cut flaps in the right cheek and then sew them back together,' Spencer stated as he looked at the photos of the victims closely with Laylah beside him; 'Look at his work.'

They had all gathered in the conference room assigned to them to begin to work their profile further, trying to narrow down a search for Penelope to work with. Laylah's eyes flicked over the different images before her, trying to find another underlying connection they might've missed.

'This is the kind of medical knowledge you get off the Internet,' Tara noted; 'What's he trying to accomplish by sewing the cheeks up improperly?'

'He's choosing to distort his victims' faces,' Laylah murmured.

'I thought you guys said he was trying to help,' Detective Roberts pointed out.

'He thinks he is,' JJ replied before she stood; 'Ok, so, we know these women are surrogates for her. We thought he was furious with them, but we now know that's wrong.'

'He's in love with her,' Rossi concluded.

'Yeah. Now, the implant is much like the dress or the blond hair. It's part of the transformation,' Tara nodded.

'But implants are supposed to make you prettier. He's making them uglier,' Detective Roberts suggested.

'Uglier according to conventional standards, yes. But, to him they're more beautiful,' Laylah looked to him.

'Somewhere is his love map he obsessed over someone society didn't want to look at,' JJ nodded; 'That's our victim zero.'

'He's doing all of this because he wants her back,' Rossi sighed.

'And the water, maybe it has something to do with how he lost her,' Laylah chimed; 'Think about it, why use water as a disposal sight in the first place unless it meant something to him? Especially the tank and the jacuzzi. If it was just about the water, why not a lake? Or a creek? She could've drowned in a similar space, a pool or a spa. Something enclosed. And I'm beginning to think that maybe it was suicide instead of an accident.'

'Why's that?'

'Well, loosing someone to suicide causes a lot more emotional damage to a person then an accident. If our unsub thought he was helping her before she took her own life, he'd be blaming himself for not being able to save her. So, to him, this is his second chance at saving the girl he couldn't save in the first place.'
