[Chapter 21: Connections]

*Hugerson's Point of View

"Zace, you've been seriously up all night. You are not going to stop, aren't you?"

I can't help but to sincerely approach him as the door of the control room immediately opened when it sensed me coming. Nakita ko agad naman si Zace na nakatayo at nakatuon ang atensyon doon sa malaking screen habang hawak-hawak niya yung folder na binigay sa amin kanina.

I just mentally sighed before I went beside and watched him do what he's doing.

Ever since Tita Avani told us that the Laurents were a part of the Alum 10 years ago, Zace has been nonstop fidgeting and searching stuffs all over at the same time regarding about them.

Halos dito na rin siya natutulog. Sometimes, he doesn't sleep, anymore.

"Zace."He immediately stopped pacing back and forth the moment he already saw me in front of him. I unconsciously raised my eyebrow when he just ignored me, despite seeing me already. I eventually rolled my eyes and tapped his shoulder, so I could get his attention, once more.

"What?"He quickly hissed. Napailing nalang ako sa naging asal niya.

"What are you searching for, anyway?"I curiously asked and roamed my eyes through the folders and papers in front of him.

Agad ko naman din binalik ang atensyon ko nang mapansin kong halos nakatitig na naman siya doon sa control room kung saan nandoon at pinapakita yung profile ni Mrs. Laurent-or I mean, Mrs. Kan.

"You're going through Margauxe's last time, now it's her mother? Seriously, what are you up to?"I gaze back at him and quickly asked him that.

After the night before yesterday, Zace already started doing all of this with going through Margauxe's personal datas and informations, first.

Now, it's Mrs. Kan who he's checking.

Kunot-noo ko paring tinignan si Zace na parang walang pakialam kung may tao ba sa tabi niya.

The control room is always full of personnels that work all day and all night to monitor the whole Alum inside and out, but Zace here, keeps barging in like there's no one in his sight and just use the control room without saying anything.

"Zace, Vi's worried about you."Yeah, he's completely ignoring every thing that I said.

Muli nalang akong napailing bago lumapit sa kaniya.

"We'll be just right at the hangout place."

Mas lalo naman akong napailing nang maski isan tango lamang ay hindi niya nagawa dahil nakatutok parin ang mga mata niya doon sa folders at pati na rin sa screen.

The people surrounding us immediately did a bow and paved me a way as I eventually decided to leave him, once again.

This is actually the third night that I did that.

I just shrugged and make a way towards where the hangout place is.

Lahat naman sila ay agad na nagsitinginan sa akin pagkapasok ko, lalo na si Vi na tumayo pa mula sa kinauupuan niya para lang lumapit sa akin.

She approached me with concerning eyes. I half-smile as I saw that plastered on her face.

"Where's Kuya?"She even take a quick peek behind me to see if Zace came with me.

Mas lalo namang bumakas ang pag-aalala sa mukha niya nang makita niyang hindi ko nagawang isama si Zace sa akin pabalik.

"Huh, I already see that coming. Alam niyo naman kasi na kapag desidido 'yang si Zace, hindi siya titigil kapag hindi niya pa nakukuha gusto niya."

Axe suddenly butted in and blurted out. Agad naman siyang tumayo at nilapitan din ako.

"Is he still doing the same thing, again?"I immediately gave him a nod as an answer before making myself a way towards Ulysses and sit beside him.

"Yeah, but with Mrs. Kan, now."Dagdag ko pa na ikinakunot-noo ng halos lahat na nandito.

"I know it's a short time notice that Mrs. Kan is obviously not on our side, but Zace wouldn't waste his time searching datas and infos about her."Exactly, my point.

"What's his deal, anyway?"Levi butted in.

"Is there something he wants to confirm?"Vann, as well butted in right after Levi spoke up.

Sumandal nalang ako sa kinauupuan ko at pumikit dahil halos magmamadaling araw na at gising parin kaming lahat galing sa training.

Yeah, training. Since we're temporarily sleeping in here, we've suggested altogether to fill up our training sessions once more, while Zace on the other hand do his thing.

"Seriously, you should know already why Zace is doing that."Trixie suddenly broke the silence and spoke up with her eyebrow being raised.

Sandali akong napakunot ng noo at mabilisang napamulat agad nang makuha ko na ang gusto niyang sabihin, lalo na ang sinabi ni Vann sa amin kanina.

The latter just smirk the moment she saw my reaction.

"He wants to confirm if they're connected to her."I bluntly said out of nowhere.

"Always the smart one."Trixie chuckled after hearing what I just said. Nagkatinginan naman halos yung iba, lalo na sina Axe at Rye pagkatapos nilang marinig ang sinabi ko.

"Who's the her you're talking about?"Levi once again curiously asked.

"Is it—"

"Wait, what?"

"We still need to talk to him."Muli akong bumalik sa pagkakasandal sa kinauupuan ko at tumingin sa kawalan habang malalim kong pinag-iisipan ang ginagawa ni Zace.

"Should we help him? Baka naman kasi sa kakahanap niya doon, mapatay niya na lahat ng taong nakapaligid sa kaniya."Axe joked around that suddenly made me to glare at him.

"You know, ever since months ago, Zace likes to do things alone. I don't even have the slightest doubt if next time, he's going to face the Onyx alone, too as well."

Halos mapantig naman ang tenga ko sa sinabi ni Azraell na naging dahilan para mapatingin ako sa kaniya. Sakto namang bumukas ang pinto kung nasaan kami at iniluwa doon ang taong pinag-uusapan namin.

Zace entered with his usual aura, and he quite brought along with him the folders that he's been keeping as we followed him right across the room.

My forehead suddenly creased as I thought of something. Is it?

No, we still need some confirmation.
