New Years Eve Part 5

"I can't believe you're going to a fucking Kook party," John B repeated for what felt like the thousandth time since Coralina had told him about her fake plans with Kie. Sighing, she shoved clothes into her book bag for her 'sleepover', "Look Kie invited me and it's been awhile since her and I have hung out together."

"I know. But seriously a Kook party," he repeated again, "You're not gonna be here and apparently JJ's sick so it's just me and Pope," John B whined. "Even if I stayed here I'd be completely bored while you boys play on the stupid XBox so a Kook party sounds fun," Coralina told her brother, "Now get out I need to get ready. You have to drop me off at The Wreck in an hour."

"Are the Carrera's going to give you a ride home in the morning?" John B asked as they pulled up outside of The Wreck. "I'll find a ride home, dad, geez. Have a good night," Coralina told him before jumping out of the van and hurrying towards the restaurant. Stepping inside she was met with Kiara waiting for her in the atrium, "Hey, my Dad is inside. I thought it would be more believable that I'm staying with you tonight if we said bye to him together," Kie told her.

Nodding Coralina dropped her book bag by the door before heading inside with Kie. "Dad, Coral and I are heading back to her place," Kie called to her father who was working behind the bar. Raising his head Mike smiled at the girls, "What's your plans tonight, girls?"

Smiling Coralina shrugged, "Just hanging out till the ball drops. Nothing special," she answered. "Well you two have fun," Mike told the girls. "Tell mom I'll see her tomorrow," Kie told her dad before the girls turned and left.

Stopping to grab her bag Coral smiled once they were outside, "Okay, well you have fun tonight," she told her friend as they made their way down the sidewalk away from the restaurant. "Are you really not going to tell me where you're going?" Kie questioned, "Founding principal, Coral, no secrets amongst Pogues," she reminded her.

"Well technically you're a Kook so I'm not breaking any rules and no I can't say where I'm going," Coralina answered, "It's very new and I don't need my brother interrogating and scaring him off."

Sighing Kie grabbed Coral's arm as they stopped walking, "Just promise me you're going to be safe. If I let you go off to like a serial killer's house I'm gonna feel really guilty."

Laughing Coralina shook her head, "He's not a serial killer," she assured her, "I'll be fine Kie, I promise. I wouldn't ask you to cover for me if it was going to be dangerous just like if I thought you'd be in danger going to Topper's party I wouldn't cover for you. Now I really need to go the opposite way so have fun at your party," Coral told her.

"Alright have fun," Kie told her as she hugged her goodbye, "I'll text you in the morning so we have the same story of what we did tonight for my parents and John B." Giving her friend one final squeeze Coralina stepped back, "Sounds good. Have a good night," she told her waving over her shoulder.

Pulling her jacket a little tighter around her Coral made the walk to JJ's house in record time. Walking down the driveway she smiled when she didn't see his dad's truck. Pulling out her cell phone she sent him a quick text.

Coral🐚: Is it safe to come inside?

Staying in the shadows of the house Coral waited for him to reply. Looking up when instead she heard the front door open she smiled when JJ appeared in the door looking around. Stepping out of the shadows she hurried towards him, "Why didn't you text me earlier?" he asked, "I could've met you instead of you walking in the dark."

"I didn't really think about it. I just wanted to get here," she told him, wrapping her arms around his neck and kissing him. Stumbling into the house JJ slammed the door shut before locking it all with Coralina still kissing him. Breaking away JJ laughed, "Someone's eager."
