A Second Chance (Marco x Fem Reader)

Chapter 17

A/N: In this story i'm using the she/her pronouns for Hange, as that is what i am used to reading while watching the anime in japanese with english sub on Crunchyroll (They refer to Hange as she/her). That's really just to make it easier for me, as that is what comes natural for me when i write. I hope it's okay for everyone reading, i have read that Hange's character's pronoun is meant to be interpereted by the viewer after all:) Enjoy the chapter!

The Survey Corps had made a swift return from their expedition after learning about the attack on Trost, and you finally had the backup needed to deal with the remaining titans now that the hole was sealed. After giving Levi a very quick summary of the day's main event's, he ordered Mikasa and Armin to bring Eren back to base. He then turned back to you, eyeing you up and down.

"Oi, you look like you have a little fight left in you.. Cover me until I can rendezvous with my squad", he said and started moving. You remained still for a couple of seconds and looked at him dumbfounded.

"Uhh, sir... I know for a fact I look like I have been sent through a titans entire digestive system five times, what do you mean I look like I have more fight left in me?", you said sarcastically, then froze as you realized what just came out of your mouth.

'Y/N, I know you did not just say that out loud to a higher-up, to a CAPTAIN even! Sasha, Connie and Jean would never let me live that down if they heard'

Levi stopped to look back at you, his face still unimpressed.

"Titans don't have a digestive system you brat, just do as I say... Besides, you're not the worst case I've ever seen", he said plainly, but with a little hint of humour in his tone at the end there only you could pick up. You sighed and jumped to join him on the rooftop.

The two of you had moved around in the vicinity of the gate, killing a titans as you spotted them. Levi was nothing like you had ever seen before. He killed titans like it was no trouble at all, just some annoying insect in his way. He was even better than Mikasa, something you never thought anyone could be. You don't really know why he asked you to join as he was the one mostly doing the killings. But you had your moments in between where you got to show off your skills, not that you tried to of course. You don't like to boast. Levi even seemed surprised at some of the moves and manoeuvres you were pulling; some being a bit more advanced than what one usually see a cadet can perform straight out of graduation. Not that his expression changed in any drastic way, it's just that you are good with reading faces.

"My squad should be at the top of the wall over there. Let's go and get you out of the field, you have done quite enough fighting for one day", he said, already moving. How anyone could ever keep up with him is beyond you. You sighed once again and quickly followed him to the top of the wall.

"Hey Leviiiii!", a woman with glasses and a high, messy ponytail exclaimed once you reached the top. Levi didn't answer. "Who is this?", she asked intrigued, looking at you.

"Some cadet helping out around the gate", Levi answered short.

"Ooo, a cadet you say? Was she the one helping you down there?! I wondered who it was, she looked like a veteran the way she took out those titans!", she said excited.

"Oh, I don't know if I necessarily helped him, he was quite capable on his own...", you said. Modest, you looked down a bit. She seemed to notice how tense you were. "Oh, sorry! Introductions! I'm Section-Commander Hange of the Survey Corps!", she said with a smile.

'Section-Commander?!'

You quickly saluted, stressed out as saluting was the common courtesy before addressing any higher-up and you had just spoken to her without doing so. Hange's eyes widened.
