The rain always bought me a sense of peace. As everyone around me hope for sunshine and warmth; what I want is almost the opposite. The sound of rain hitting the window as you look through it is something like no other.

It brings so much more to me and makes me feel comforted. Whenever a droplet hits the pavement on the road, or patters into another puddle. Every drop of rain makes the world an easier place for me to live in for some reason and even though being the girlfriend of Scarlett Johansson makes me happy, the rain hits different for me. It sort of reminds me of my childhood in England, when me and my friends would kick a can against a curb or play manhunt in the alleyway that connected all our back gardens. Scarlett understood that I loved the rain; but I could never get her to see the beauty of it the way I do.

Although I have a love for the droplets of diamond-water that fall from the sky, I only ever dislike the darker weather when thunder begins to erupt from the clouds. The loud noises scare me and the only person to have ever understood that fear is my beautiful blonde-haired beauty that I get to call my girlfriend. Every time a storm happens, she puts the radio on and draws the curtains, then we dance around the living room whilst I hid in her arms. Even though she's 5'3, she usually comes back from work in heels so if she does wear them, I dig my head into her neck. If she doesn't have them on, I just rest our foreheads together.

Tonight, was one of the nights where the rain wasn't heavy nor light, meaning it was perfect for us to relax. The room was silent as I was laid down in between Scarlett's legs as she massaged my forehead slowly. Only noises to be heard was the sound of the crystal-coloured liquid lightly smacking against the window. Scar thinks I'm crazy but the smell that rain gives off is one of the greatest smells in my opinion, and because we live in a house in the suburbs the smell often fills up the living room causing this relaxation to wash over me.

"Are you alright laid there, my love?" Scarlett asked me. Her hands worked magic to reduce the headache caused by a stressful day of work and the kiss she left on my forehead lingered for me to process how happy she was making me. "Yes, thank you, Scar. I love you baby..." I say looking up. "What's wrong baby girl? Would you like a kiss?" I shyly nodded my head then turned my body to sit up next to scar and our lips melted into one and other.

"I never will get used to the feeling of your lips on mine..." I began. The blonde only let out a small chuckled followed by, "Which lips?". The seductive smirk on her face made me giggle. "You know I love both equally..." I reply, begging to make the kiss more heated.

The kiss was slow and passionate and began to escalate slowly. We were letting out small moans of pleasure into each other's mouths till we both ran out of breath; content with the make-out session we just had. "Did you need that after your long shift today, baby girl?" Scarlett asked me. We've been together for 2 and a half years now and she still gives me butterflies when she calls me her baby girl. "Yes, Scar" I say in response to her. Scar made her way to my lips again, connecting them and just as she began kissing light hickeys into my neck, the sound of thunder rumbled through the walls causing me to jump away.

"Hey, sweetheart it's okay. I'm here okay, it's just me." My girlfriend said holding me close to her chest. "Alexa. Play 'Can't Help falling in love with you' by Elvis Presley" She continued. Her voice muffled by her hands covering my ears. "Here, baby. Let's have a dance, yeah?"

She pulled me up onto my feet and our foreheads rested on one and others. I didn't notice the fact that she made us dance towards the way of the window so that she could close the windows and the curtains. Those few seconds we parted as she shut them, I went into straight survival mode, trying to get as far away from the thuds coming from the clouds. I ran into the corner of the room and pulled my hands to my ears. Scarlett couldn't keep her grip on me as I walked away and she just finished closing the curtains before pulling me back into her warm and comforting embrace.

"That's it darling, you're okay. I've got you" She whispered to me. "Scar-" I began. My words of guilt were cut off by yet another kiss from Scarlett, only this one slow and passionate but to show that she is here for me. "You don't have to apologise, baby girl. You never will have to" She continued.

The song was short lived but the thunder consisted. "Alexa, shuffle play Calming 2" Scarlett said not letting go of me. This playlist was made specifically for these thunderstorms where I get particularly scared. It is also for when fireworks get let off and I need to seek comfort because it is the loud noises that make me think I am 5 years old again back home with my argumentative parents.

Next to play was a different of song called 'This Is Home' by Cavetown. For some reason this song was one to bring the most comfort to me and I have never known why but it just makes me happy. Me and Scarlett swayed left to right for a good few songs and before we knew it the thunder had stopped.

"Do you know how it's still raining?" I asked Scarlett with teary eyes. "Yes, my love?" She replied questioningly. "Do you think we can go outside and sit on the porch for a bit and watch the rain?" I asked. I knew that she didn't love the rain as much as I did but now the thunder had subsided, the only way to contain my sadness anymore was to just watch the rain. "Of course, we can but you're putting your coat on." She said with all seriousness. "But Scar-" "No but's Y/N. Just please. I don't want you getting ill on me." Scarlett said.

We made our way outside and even though i tried to sneak out without my coat on, Scarlett quite literally made me put it on. She lifted up my arms herself and put my arms through the holes like I was a baby. 'Whatever makes you sleep at night' was what I said earning a slight smack to the back of my leg causing me to chuckle.

The porch was dry due to the canopy above, stopping any rain to soak the floor. "Look at how pretty it is Scar..." I say with my eyes glistening with happiness from the weather. "I don't see what's so special about it baby..." She replied. I rolled my eyes at her earning a smack to my wrist. In response, I pulled up the umbrella and dragged my girlfriend out to the front yard with me.

As a pair standing alone in front of a fully lit house with an umbrella covering us both as we danced to nothing, we would look crazy to anyone else. But to me, to us. This was one of the most special nights of our lives. Scarlett was astounded by how peaceful the sound of the rain hitting the umbrella above us could be and the smell of the wet grass tainted the air making it so much better. We were dancing to nothing but the songs we made in our head. Just when I thought tonight couldn't get any better Scarlett began singing a song of her own for us to dance to.

Her voice as she sang 'Falling Down' made me so happy and we finally were dancing to something. I began to sing alongside her. As the song was beginning to come to a close, I put one of my hands into my pockets and realised this was the perfect moment for something like this. I pulled away from her arms and whilst still holding the umbrella above us, i grabbed her left hand. Then I pulled out this ring box and showed it to her. "Just put it on..." she said not even skipping a second or taking a second glance. I slipped the ring onto her ring finger and kissed her deeply.

"After you, my lady" I said as I ushered her inside. "Such a gentle woman." I heard her say as i shut the door behind us both. "You mean fiancé" I say with a smirk. "Yeah, well let's be real... it was bound to happen soon."

"Obviously" was my only reply before she leant back into my arms and kissed me once more.
