Outside the Last Drop

          Babette ended up actually waking Vi and me up in our room, much to her amusement and my embarrassment. She told us where Sevika was, leading us to where we were now. Whiskers peeked around my shoulder as Vi and I looked around the corner of the alley we were hiding in, looking up at the bright sign hanging in the center of the building. The Last Drop. There were at least a dozen of Silco's thugs standing outside guarding the front door, some powered by Shimmer while others stood tall in their own clothes with knives clutched tightly in their fists. Vi tapped the top of my head before leaning back into the alley, and I followed her shortly in while grabbing my braid and beginning to nervously twist the end around my fingers. Vi had helped me braid my hair since she had been the one to take it out, much to her dismay. She hated braiding hair.

          "Are you ready for this?" Vi asked, her gauntlets beginning to glow on her hands as she grabbed my shoulders softly. I nodded, the blue glow from the crystals illuminating in my alrighty lit up pink eyes and made them seem purple. "We do this and we send a message to Silco that we aren't messing around anymore."

          "And I'll get a new arm," I smirked with a tilt of my head.

          "And a new arm," Vi nodded with a little smile. She pulled away, licking her lips as she peeked around the alley once again. With her back turned, I grinned slightly as Whiskers jumped off my shoulder and onto Vi's. Slipping out of the alley, I stood front and center of the thugs and began strolling forward with my arms tucked behind my back. I received a few confused glances as I kept the same calm smile on my lips as I moved past them, nearly making it to the door when one thug cut me off.

          "Thought you went off the grid, Mouse," he snapped, and I looked down to see him gripping the knife in his fist.

          "I had some time to think," I replied with a tilt of my head, "and it's really, really helped me clear my mind."

          Before he could even react, I kicked him in the gut with Shimmer pumping through my blood and moving power to my foot. The man flew backward and into a nearby pillar, crashing through it and making the roof of the small cement shack fall on top of him. The rest of the men standing immediately turned towards me, knives shining and whipping in the wind as I smiled while flicking my gaze back to them. And then Vi ran out, punching one of the thugs in the Shimmer suit in the back with a cry, and watched his body fly into another building. I ducked under a swinging arm, laughing a little as I jumped back out of another swing. I waved at the man as he growled in frustration, determined to hit me. But I caught his wrist, snapping the bones with one flick of my hand and making the knife drop out of his fingers. Before he could scream I cupped my hand around his jaw and clamped his lips shut. And then I swung his body into another nearby man, propelling the two away from me.

          One of the men high on Shimmer came charging at me as Vi handled another two thugs on her own, weaving and punching while also taking a few blows herself. I grinned as my pink eyes flashed, and at lightning speeds I avoided his swinging arm by ducking under it and sidestepping him, reaching in with my metal hand right through his chest plate. My hand touched wires within, and I grinned before jerking them out. The suit began malfunctioning as the man stepped away from me with a screech, and before he could make too much noise I jumped through the air before kicking him upside the head with my heel. His body crashed into the ground on his side, the helmet shattering with Shimmer gas escaping out of it. Vi finished off the last one with a pant, uppercutting the thug and watching his body fly up and over the Last Drop.

          "You ever pull that again," Vi panted as she moved towards me and the door, "I'll drop-kick you."

          "I'd like to see you try," I chuckled while turning towards the door as well.
