(As much as I love writing fluff we gotta get back to the angst, it was 5/25 it is now 5/28, Terugo has returned, and it is Kai's tenth birthday)

'Manticore!' Poltergeist yelled. 'Get your feathery ass over here and help me!'
'What do you want?' She growled.
'Kai keeps running away from me. He won't stay in one place help me!'
'Good.'
'Manticore!'
'Fine!'
Manticore flew around the base trying to find Kai. 'Where did that damn kid go?' She closed her eyes and tried to focus. If she could hear his voice, his footsteps, anything, she could pinpoint his location.
'Hmph. Where ever this kid is hiding there isn't much sound.' She growled.

'Kai!' Poltergeist yelled. 'Kai where did you go!' The ghost sighed. He tried to connect the dots. He seemed fine yesterday...
Maybe it's him saying his first name. Terugo only calls him Kai when he's upset with him. 'Maybe he thinks I'm mad.' He sighed and held his hands above his head, 'I'm not mad, Saki-San. I'm not, really. If you're there, please, please come out. I'm only bringing you back to your room. I promise.'
He heard a soft crying from behind the wall. 'Oh, there you are.' He said, finding Kai crying. He had fresh bandages on thanks to their recent blood drain.
'I just... You were saying my name. I thought... Thought you were mad at me...' He cried. 'I'm sorry for running away. I just got so scared.'
Poltergeist got on one knee and wiped his tears. 'I know. But you can't keep running away from me. Okay? Does that make sense?'
'I know, I'm sorry.'
Poltergeist smiled at him, 'It's okay. Come on, kid. It's time for bed.'
Kai nodded and let Poltergeist pick him up. For once, the cold was comforting. He didn't mind the freezing temperatures of his skin at all. 'Senpai?'
'Yes?'
'Can...' He stopped and closed his eyes, resting against Poltergeist's chest.
'Yes?' Poltergeist asked again.
'Can I please stay in your room tonight? Father is going to be in his office all night, I'm scared.'
Poltergeist stopped. 'Kid are you sure you want to stay in my room? Why not Manticore's?'
'Because Manticore sheds feathers everywhere all the time. And besides, she kicks in her sleep. You don't.'
'How do you know that?'
'Eros.'
'How does Eros know that?!'

After careful consideration, Poltergeist caved. He let Kai stay in his room for the night. 'But just for tonight okay?'
'Okay.' Kai whispered, already falling asleep.
Poltergeist nodded and unbuttoned his shirt, he didn't sleep with any clothes on normally but there was a child here so he would make an exception. Speaking of, he looked back just to make sure Kai was asleep. He was, he was sound asleep. Poltergeist smiled softly, it was nice to have someone feel safe around him.
Usually, they ran away scared, even though he was never on the news and he wasn't very well known in general. It was just his appearance.
Poltergeist laid down next to him, 'G'Night, kid.'
