Chapter 9

2 weeks later...

Jason

It had been two weeks since I last saw Max and honestly, I missed having him around. The last time I saw him was when we had classes together. Tammy has been flirting with me non-stop for the past two weeks. However, for the first time, I was not interested in her and did not want to be around her.

Mid-term exams start next week and so everyone has been busy studying. Right now it was Mr. Black's class and he was explaining to us the vital section that would be on the English exam. When there was a knock on the door, when I heard, "sorry for being late, please can I come in?". I immediately stopped taking notes and lifted my head as I heard Max's voice. Mr. Black let him in and Max gave him a letter, he came over and sat next to me.

Mr. Black resumed the class and Max took out his notebook to write notes. He looked at me and said, "what are we doing in class today?". I quickly briefed him about what we are doing in class. Then I asked him, "Max where have you been for the last two weeks? Mid-term exams are next week". He smiled and said, "why did you miss me, sweetheart? Sorry for making you worried. I was busy with some personal issues that's why I could not come to school". I slapped his shoulder out of embarrassment and saw him flinch a little. He continued to smile as if nothing happened.

Something must have happened because he would never flinch like that. I did not ask anything further. The class ended soon and I saw Ollie and Roxy walking in with Erick and Raven right behind. Max said a quick hello to Ollie and Roxy before walking away with Erick and Raven. Both of them smiled at me and then rushed to catch up with Max. He turned and waved at me before he went out the door.

Max was acting strange and I wanted to find out what was bothering him. However, I had to focus on the upcoming exams first. If I did not do well, I can kiss my freedom goodbye my grades cannot be affected in any way. The three of us walked toward the library to get some extra studying done. We did not have a class next period, since the teacher was out sick. Roxy told us that she finally got the feedback on the presentation she was working on with Raven. The teacher took some time to give feedback due to personal reasons. It seems they did really well and the teacher appreciated the effort they put into the presentation.

I was not really paying attention to what she said after that as I was distracted thinking about Max. When we reached the library it was packed there were students everywhere, so we had time to look for a place to sit down. Luckily we found a room in the library that was open and no one had occupied it yet. I ran inside to grab the room Roxy and Ollie were taking time to arrive. I took out my books and laptop since I like to type my notes, thank god our school allows the option to either handwrite or type our notes. Ollie walked in with a tray of coffee in his hand and Roxy was holding a bag filled with treats.

Roxy, "we need some energy to study so Ollie and I went to grab some stuff. so what are we studying first?". Both of them settled down and took out their things, we started with maths since it takes time to solve the questions. We were busy discussing the questions and solving them that the time flew by so fast. It was almost time for our next class, all of us had the same class so we packed up and left the library.

On the way to the next class which was biology, we took a quick bathroom break because of the amount of coffee we had finished drinking. Ollie was in and out of there before you know it. I took my time since we still had time, I splashed my face with some cold water since it was so hot. I heard the bathroom door open with a bang and saw Erick running to one of the stalls cursing out loud. I heard him say, "damn it I forgot to take my pills since I am lactose intolerant. I ate the chocolate bar because it looked so tempting and the consequence is so brutal". I walked out of the bathroom laughing, it's bad to laugh at someone's misfortune but I could not help it since it was Erick.

I met up with Ollie and Roxy who were sitting on one of the benches talking amongst each other. We saw Raven and Max running down the hallway in a rush, I knew the reason why though. Ollie looked at them and said, "where is the fire? why are they running like that?". I answered his question, "they are running to the bathroom to find Erick. He had a minor incident in the bathroom". Roxy asked, "what is it serious? do you think we should go help?". I replied to her, "it is a little personal, we can't help him plus Max and Raven are there for him. We can ask how he is doing later ok since we are getting late". I am sure Erick would find it awkward for us to be involved in something so personal since we are not so close.

The rest of the day went without a hitch and school was over before you knew it. Finally, it is the weekend tomorrow. I need to rest and relax a little after all the studying has fried my brain. I said bye to Ollie and Roxy before walking toward my car, when I saw Max going behind the school building towards the trees. I followed behind him while keeping a safe distance, what is he going to do there? I hide behind one of the trees and watched him take off his clothes.

Wow, he had a great body for a nerd and then I noticed a large bruise on his back. Did he get into a fight? Then I heard the sound of bones cracking and a growl, it was coming from him. Just then the most unbelievable thing happened he transformed into a wolf. His wolf was beautiful and he was white as snow. After seeing that scene I blacked out as I felt someone hit the back of my neck.
