Lisa was analyzing the situation much more than Jennie had.

“I don’t care if you were a mistress and I don’t wish to know what exactly happened in the past. I just feel that, firstly, the rash way that you have intruded our lives is making things rather difficult for Jennie. Secondly, all the things you have said are not backed up with credible evidence that you are really Jennie’s mother. In fact, we have the right to refute your claims.”

“I am...I really am.” Jun Ji-hyun was more worked up now than before. She sprung up from her seat and looked straight at Jennie, ignoring Lisa. “Jennie, I really am your mother. Please believe me.”

“If that is the case, we should do a DNA test.”

Lisa looked at Jun Ji-hyun with continued indifference. His stare was sharper than ever. “We’ll believe in the result of the DNA test. It will never be wrong. Don’t you agree, Aunty?”

“Yes, yes, yes,” Jun Ji-hyun nodded profusely. “It will be good. A DNA test will be good. I know what that is. Jennie, when do you think we should do that?”

Lisa did not expect her to respond this way. He could not help but glance at Jennie.

Jennie was astonished too. When her eyes met Lisa’s, she shook her head gently. She turned to face Jun Ji-hyun. “Aunty, please don’t panic. It’s late now; we can’t do the DNA test at this moment anyway. You should rest first and we can talk about things tomorrow. Is that alright?”

“Sure, alright.” Jun Ji-hyun still looked a little worked up. “Jennie, I hope that you’ll believe me. I really am your mother. Whether you want to do a DNA test, take a blood test, or look for Kim Soo-Hyun for clarification, I am not afraid to do any of them. I really and purely just want to acknowledge you as my daughter.”

“What then, after acknowledging her?” Lisa’s words were still discourteous. “Do you hope that Jennie will support you?”

“No, no, no.” Jun Ji-hyun kept waving her hands to dispel that accusation. “I don’t need her to support me, nor do I need both of you to support me. I have savings.”

All these years, she had lived frugally. With the exception of hiring a domestic helper, she did not have any major expenditure. “I have savings. Don’t you worry, I will not have you support me. Perhaps you do not fancy my assets, but they will all be yours in the future.”

When Jun Ji-hyun finished speaking, she wanted to go to her room to retrieve her bank book and documents which contained a list of her assets to prove herself. “I really do have money. I can show it to you. I...”

“Aunty,” Jennie stopped her from continuing what she intended to do. “Don’t be like this. I did not mean that.”

If Jun Ji-hyun were really her mother, her biological mother, she would definitely have to support her. She just...

Jun Ji-hyun stood there, seemingly at a loss about what to do. Jennie could not bear that she felt as if she was bullying an elderly.

“Aunty, it’s late. Please rest now. We can talk about things tomorrow.”

Jun Ji-hyun’s lips moved and it was obvious that she still had something to say, but she could only despondently retreat back into her room.

The living room quieted down and Jennie followed Lisa into their room.

The duo did not banter like they usually did. Jennie sat on the bedside, thinking about the day’s events and chuckled.

“What’s the matter? Didn’t you say that you want to take a shower?” Lisa noticed Jennie once he stepped out of the shower. He stepped forward and encircled her waist with his arms.
