Qiu Yanbo raised his hand. He wanted to slap Qiu Junjiao in the face. Qiu Junjiao’s face went red at her brother’s action.

“Qiu Yanbo, are you my brother or not? Whose side are you on? I was bullied, but instead of trying to get even for me, you even want to hit me? I’ll tell Dad.”

“Have you had enough?” Qiu Yanbo was mad but he did not slap her. “Do you know that our company negotiated a cooperation project with Lisa, but after the party, he gave it to the Kim Family? Do you have any idea how much that project is worth? Hundreds of millions! Do you know how much you cost us by pouring that glass of wine on her?”

Totally shocked, she looked at him and could not believe what he said. “Is Lisa crazy? How is that possible? I just—”

Suddenly, she threw back the covers and got out of bed. “I’m going to find him,” she said.

“Why? What would that do?” Qiu Yanbo grabbed her arm and said, “I’m telling you, next time stay away from Jennie.”

“Brother, come on. She bullied me.” Qiu Junjiao became angry.

Qiu Yanbo raised a finger and warned her, “This can only happen once. Never do it again.”

Now, he had to go back to the company to deal with the aftermath. Looking at his sister, Qiu Yanbo became really angry. Why couldn’t she be as sensible as Jennie and make less trouble?

Qiu Junjiao’s anger did not disappear after her brother left. She punched her quilt angrily. She was determined that she would not take this lying down.

...

Jennie got home from work to find that Jun Ji-hyun’s eyes were even more swollen than when she had left.

She was surprised and wanted to ask what happened. Jun Ji-hyun, however, didn’t like to talk much about this stuff. Jennie had to quit asking.

After dinner, Jennie sat with Jun Ji-hyun for a while, watching her knit. She was so fast that she had already finished the bottom circle.

“Mom, you’re so fast.”

“Really?” Jun Ji-hyun put it in front of her body and measured it roughly. “I’m old now. I used to be faster.”

“Take your time. I have a lot to wear.” Jennie looked at the direction of the room. “The other day Lisa bought me a lot.”

“He’s very nice to you.”

“Yeah.” Jennie nodded, becoming happy at the thought of the fireworks yesterday.

“You’re not working on that paper or something? You should get on with it. I’ll knit this while watching TV here.”

“Don’t stay up too late. Go to bed early.”

“I will.” Jun Ji-hyun looked at Jennie, touched. Her daughter was so good, but Kim Soo-Hyun had been so bad to her.

Jennie left the living room. She did not go back to the study, but her bedroom.

Lisa had already taken a shower. He was drying his hair with a towel when he saw her come in. He sat down beside her and asked, “Aren’t you watching TV with Mom?”

Jennie shook her head. “Lisa, I think mom is in a worse mood than she was this morning. Did you notice she looked worse?”

She was dying to ask what had happened. Jun Ji-hyun looked like she didn’t want to talk about it, so she didn’t ask her in the end.

“Of course she is in a bad mood, your father came to her today.

“How do you know?”

Lisa put the towel aside and put his face before Jennie’s. “You want to know? Beg me, and I’ll tell you.”
