A Little Skipping Won't Hurt

As much as I knew I wasn't supposed to do it, I did it anyways. And besides, its not like it was only me.

For some strange reason, Ciel and I were in a scenario where we had to be hiding because some people in black suits decided to "out-of-nowhere" show up and follow us. We ended up at an area where like NO PEOPLE go. Thank you Ciel. Thats definitely a logical place to go when you're being followed.. I mean, we could have just went into an area full of people but noooooo, we just haaaad to come here. There were so many times where Ciel just wanted to jump out of our hiding spot and just take them all down by surprise. But hello, you know you have a disadvantage when you have about 15 people on your tail. 2 v 15... just kidding. We weren't at a disadvantage. I know how to protect myself and all, but I'd rather not be hitting people right now. Unlike Ciel, I'm much more reasonable. That is, unless I'm really going to die and all (hint hint, Shuichi). Besides, it was too early for this.

"Have you caught them yet ?" Ciel and I listened to one of their conversations as they looked around the area. "We've secured the area", one of the stalkers replied, "But we lost sight of them about 5 minutes into our chase." Whoever was on the other side of the phone didn't sound pleased. "I want you to find them and bring them here", they said, "I want them alive." Ciel gave me a "Capture us, my ass" kind of look. I couldn't help but grin. The call ended and the search continued.

It wasn't until after about 20 minutes later that some of their footsteps around us ceased. Ciel somewhat peered out at the area around us. "Anything ?", I whispered. She slightly nodded. "There are a total of 9 now", she mumbled, "4 to my right, 4 to your left, and 1 in the center." "What are they doing ?", I asked. She shrugged. "You heard that call", she reminded, "Whoever it is, wants us for something." "Do you think we can charge now ?", I asked. She looked at her pocket watch. [9:35] "Yeah", she said quietly, "But you have to make sure that nothing wrong happens. Remember that we're in our uniforms and whatnot." I looked down at the clothing we were both wearing. Ohhhhh yeah. I definitely forgot. I nodded. "At a count of three", she said. I watched her pick up a rock. "But first", she said, slightly getting ready to throw the rock, "Lets use this." Ciel threw it out and the echo of the rock bounced. They were quick to notice it and followed after it. From there, we took off. We took the back way out and luckily for us, we avoided any encounters with any of those people in suits. I found it strange though.

It was also in a situation like this when I first met Keiko.

"So what now ?", I asked Ciel. We finally managed to get into an area where there were people. She took a deep breath and sighed. "There's no point in coming to class today. We're already late as it is", she said, "And I'm definitely not in the mood for being lectured. So why don't we just go home, change out of our uniforms, and wander around ?" I liked that idea, so that's what we did. I know that it's a bad thing but... oh well. By the time we did all that, it was already 12:00. And in the process, we made sure to look like people who weren't in school. You see, if you were supposed to be in school and got caught by someone, you could get in trouble. We wanted to avoid that so we made ourselves look like some college students. Ciel definitely passed on the look but I was just there feeling like some sort of idiot. Thank goodness Mizuki wasn't there. I was glad that we managed to get him to school before we suddenly got chased by those people.

"Nee, Shiori", Ciel asked me as we walked around, "Don't you wonder about who those people were ?" I shrugged. "In a way", I replied, "Nowadays, you just have someone coming after you. The fact that it happens often eventually makes you care less for who they are." I heard her sigh and from the corner of my eye, I saw her grin. "Too often", she said faintly. I looked down at the ground. Too often. We continued to wander around until we found ourselves in the area nearby the school Keiko attended. What was it called again ? I felt Ciel's hand on my arm as she pulled me in somewhere.

"Ciel, what are you doing ?", I asked. She looked out before replying to me. "Just now", she mumbled, "I saw Aimi." I narrowed my eyes. "Aimi ?", I asked. "But what would she be doing here ?" Ciel shrugged as we came out of our hiding spot. "She was in that car that drove by a couple minutes ago", she said, putting on some sunglasses, "She's most likely headed to there." I stared off into that direction. A recollection of something very small appeared in my head. "Anyways, we should be going now", I heard Ciel say. I looked back at her and nodded slowly. "I'd rather not look into this stuff until she gets back." I sighed. "I wonder when that'll be", I mumbled.

Around 1:30 we just went home and pondered around. We didn't have much to do, so we were just there."Oi, Shiori !", I heard Ciel say from the kitchen, "Why're there beads hanging around near the doors ?" I sat up on the couch and looked at her. "Those ?", I said as I pointed at them. She nodded. "Well you see", I mumbled, "I put those up a while back because of a little incident." She took a seat at the counter. "Incident as in like ?", She asked. "Do you recall that one day where you suddenly appeared then disappeared ?", I asked. She nodded. "Well you see, the day after that, Mizuki and I went out for a little shopping when something decided to follow us." "Is that so ?", She muttered. My explanation continued to the point where I just filled her in on what went on before she had officially returned home. "How strange", she said afterwords, "In the end did you ever find out who they worked for ?" I shook my head. "No, not at all", I replied, "They weren't even affiliated with the demons that went to us directly." Ciel took a sip out of her glass. "How unusual", she replied, "And you say that day there were three of them on standby ?" I nodded. "It was to the point where even Mizuki felt uncomfortable. Ciel set her glass down and sighed. "Geez", she mumbled, "What a pain...."

"Hey Ciel, why are we even in this kind of situation ?", I mumbled softly. She smirked. "Because", she replied. "It's all inevitable. Especially for us."
