john smiled, taking a seat after shutting the doors, and glancing around at everyone, "hey guys, how are you doing?"
i made sure to come in a little earlier to get a seat next to lily. she didn't have a phone, so i wasn't able to speak to her out of support group. luke had sat on my left, and lily was on the right, and every mumbled 'good'.
as john was speaking i leaned closely to lily before whispering, "you busy after this?"
she raised an eyebrow at me before shrugging, "depends," she said and a smirk played on my face before glancing around and nodding.
"so we have a new person, his name is alex," john smile patting the boy's shoulder before he stood up and cleared his throat.
"hi?" he chuckled, "i'm alex, uhm i'm transgender," he said, "kind of the reason why i'm here. people back in my old town aren't very accepting of that..." he said.
"where you from, liverpool?" luke questioned and alex smiled and nodded.
"yeah...good guess," he chuckled, "my mom thought we could move here, and things might be different. so far, so good, but my father recommended this. they're afraid i might not be able to take the pressure of being a trans at such a young age."
john smiled and rubbed his back, "i'm glad you're doing good," he smiled.
as we all continued to talk, i continued to sneakily mess with lily. although she pretended she didn't like it, but she would smile and blush every time.
"luke?" john asked and i brought my attention back to luke realizing how quiet he was. he was just kind of zoned out. i nudged him, bringing him back to reality as he glanced to john.
"huh?"
"do you want to introduce yourself? nobody knows about you," he said and luke shook his head slow.
"no...i'm fine," he said as john shook his head.
"c'mon, everyone has something to say?"
he shrugged his shoulders, "apparently not everyone. some people just have perfect lives," he mumbled, slouching further down into his chair, holding his body.
i immediately felt guilty seeing how sad he looked. i never noticed how sad luke was. and i knew he was talking about himself. all of us boys called him out before on having such a perfect family. i frowned staring at him waiting for him to look at me, but he kept his eyes down.
"luke no one has a perfect family," john said and luke shrugged.
"that's what i thought too," he said quietly.
support group was over and i stood up, turning my attention towards luke, "hey, you okay luke?"
he shrugged his shoulders, "i'm gonna go do something, i'll catch you later," he said and i looked at him confused, "wait, don't you want a ride home? you rode here with me.'
he shook his head, before john came over and pulled luke to the side and began chatting with him. i frowned, but went ahead and started walking out. i was searching for lily, and found her walking down the block.
i shook my head smiling to myself, "you bitch," i mumbled before jogging over to her and grabbing her wrist.
"where you off to, lily? i thought i asked you to hang out," i smiled and she smiled sweetly and nodded.
"and i thought i said no thanks."
with that she continued to walk down the block, and i couldn't help but smile to myself and shake my head catching up with her once again holding her wrist so she wouldn't walk away from me this time.
