CHAPTER 44 - Valentine's Day [3/4]

"Seriously, you just don't get it, do you?"

I'm still sitting on one of the couches dito sa lounge room ng marinig ko ang nakakairitang boses ng isang babae. I quickly eyed her direction. Nandun siya sa may kabilang table, accompanied by another girl. They're having what seemed to be, a serious conversation.

Hindi ko man lang namalayan na may ibang tao na pala akong kasama. All thanks to the friggin' dilemma I was just in a while ago. I think that whole 'babe' thing took a toll on me. Lalo lang ata akong na-confused. Hindi ko na nga binigyan ng chance si Chase para makapag tanong pa kung bakit ko siya tinawag ng ganun. The moment I realized what I just called her, hinatak ko na siya kaagad palabas ng lounge. Ang pathetic lang talaga ng feeling. I felt so embarassed that I can't even look her in the eyes. Ugh!

Now, I don't know what to think anymore. I've been brainstorming for a while, trying to come up reasons pero wala naman naitutulong! I need to know, to understand kung ano ba 'tong nangyayari sa akin. I'm so confused. She's making me confused. Chase ... babe.. No, I mean si Chase! Forget that whole babe shit.

But seriously, do I actually bat for the same team now?

Since when?

Shit. Hindi ko na talaga alam. I've been trying to convince myself na everything is just .. what? normal? Na wala naman malisya na hinalikan ko na naman siya and this time nga, may endearment pa ako sa kaniya. I mean friends do that to each other, right? Pwede naman pet name lang yun to express familiarity. Pero everytime na pumapasok sa isip ko ang dahilan na yan, the whole 'we're just friends', naiisip ko bigla si Abby. Yeah, si Abby. We're best friends. Does that mean I can call her babe and kiss her on the lips without it having any deeper meaning? Is that it?

No, I can't. Just thinking about it is enough to make me cringed. Hindi kami clingy ni Abby sa isa't-isa. We've known each other since we were kids pero never kami naging overly sweet with each other.

So what makes Chase different? Kailan lang naman kami nag kakila--

"No offense, girl. Kailan mo plano ma-realized na may gusto ka sa kaniya?" Ang lakas ng pag kakasabi nung girl kaya napalingon na naman tuloy ako sa direksiyon nila. "Grabe, uso din pala sa tao ang buffering ha. Ang slow mo sis!"

I don't have the habit of listening to other people's conversation but whatever these two are talking about, seemed interesting that I can't help it. Nakinig nalang ako. Wala din naman akong choice. Ang lakas ng boses nung girl, maririnig mo talaga yung pinag uusapan nila kahit ayaw mo.

"Okay, makinig ka ha. I'll try to make it simple."

Yeah, sure. Simple is good.

"May gusto ka sa kaniya, sis. Okay? Narinig mo? May gusto ka sa kaniya!"

Direct to the point. I like it. Napa sulyap ako dun sa kausap niya. The girl just nodded her head in response to what her friend just said.

"Kaya ka kinikilig kapag sweet siya sa'yo. Kaya ka nag seselos kapag may umaaligid sa kaniya na iba is because ... MAY GUSTO KA SA KANIYA."

"So don't give me that 'mag kaibigan lang kami', kasi gasgas na 'yan. Konting-konti nalang masasampal na talaga kita, sis. Kung kaibigan lang ang turing mo sa kaniya, hindi mo sana nararamdaman 'yang mga ganyan, okay? Kainis ka pa nga!"
