to say my mother overreacted about finding out noora had never smoked was an understatement. she found out, screamed at the top of her lungs for about a minute, stood up, left the room returned half an hour later with bags of our clothing and train tickets, and we were on our merry way to amsterdam. 

"mom, jamie wants to come."

"oh she would love it here." my mom says, smoke billowing out of her mouth as she speaks. "she's probably got the money to come here. i wouldn't be surprised if she did show up." she says, and then goes back to smoking her joint and answering an email.
