This is based off the song Happier by Ed Sheeran, hope you guys enjoy because I had so much fun writing this

Walking down 29th and park

I saw you in another's arm

Only a month we've been apart

You look happier

It was a cold winter day, snow was cascading slowly from the sky. Everyone had their jackets pulled up to their necks and had their hands jammed into their pockets, except for two people.

Peter was hurrying through the park to get to his house. He had just been at Ned's but needed to leave early because Aunt May needed help cooking dinner, which was poached salmon tonight. He didn't like the sound of it, but wanted to make her happy, so he was on his way back.

For the most part, he kept his eyes down on the icy sidewalk so he could see where to step, but every once in a while he looked up to ensure he wasn't going to run into somebody.

But once he looked up for the third time, his heart stopped, along with his steady pace. He watched as you and your boyfriend, Flash, walked through the park slowly, holding hands tightly.

It hurt in general to see you move on so fast, it had only been a month, but what hurt the most was that it was Flash, his school bully, the boy who made him absolutely dread his life. At first he felt as if you were just trying to get back at him for the way he left you, but soon he realized that you actually liked the idiot of a boy.

Peter shook his head and continued to walk, but he couldn't keep his eyes focused on the winter ground. He only stared at you and Flash.

Saw you walk inside a bar

He said something to make you laugh

I saw that both your smiles were twice as wide as ours

Yeah you look happier, you do

Peter watched as Flash leaned down to whisper something into your ear. You perked up and moved closer so he had better access. When he was done you bursted out laughing, hunching over, your hand bringing down Flash's. He smiled at your laughter, just like Peter had done.

He couldn't help but notice just how long you laughed for. You never laughed that long while with him, and it stung his heart just a little more. You looked. . . happier.

Ain't nobody hurt you like I hurt you

But ain't nobody love you like I do

I promise that I will not take it personal, baby

If you're moving on to someone new

While staring at you, he desperately tried to remember why he even let you go, and soon he was reminded bitterly of the memories.

You were catching onto his secret identity, and he knew that you couldn't ever find out. He told Mister Stark his problem, and the man told him to break up with you. "It's the only way to keep her safe. If I had known that sooner, Pepper would be here with us. Don't make the same mistake I did."

So, knowing it was the best thing to do, he broke up with you. To make it worse, you sobbed and sobbed, hitting him in the chest and begging him why he was doing this.

Throughout all of it, Peter was forced to keep a straight face and say, "I don't love you." He knew he needed to say something that would sting so it would keep you away from him.

Because a month ago, all he cared about was your safety, and how to ensure it.

'Cause baby you look happier, you do
