*A Month Later, Saturday*

Laurens POV

Over the past month things at home havent gotten any better. Each day seemed to repeat the one before.
Wake up.
Get screamed at.
Argue with mum.
Go to Joshs/Go out with Josh. (Maybe stay at his).
Come home.
Get shouted at.
Have another argument.
Steal a beer.
Sleep.

Every fight with my mum felt like a losing battle. She just wouldnt give up unless I ran off or she hurt me enough to make me quiet.

I pulled myself out of bed, throwing my hair into a high ponytail before walking downstairs to go and get some breakfast. I was meeting up with Josh today and we were going bowling. I wasnt too bad at bowling however I wasnt the best. I walked into the kitchen, seeing my sister showing my mum a score she got on a test.
"100 percent." My mum smiled, giving her a hug. She saw me walk in and frowned. "Any recent test scores you want to show me Lauren?"
"Like you would care." I rolled my eyes, grabbing the cereal out the cupboard.
"Lauren Steadman! Dont talk to your mother like that!"
"Its true! Unless I get a better score than Ellen you dont care!"
"Then show me your test scores!" She snapped. I put my cereal down, walking upstairs and grabbing my most recent science test. I got 95%. Dianne had helped me revise for the test. I walked downstairs, putting it on the table before going back to making breakfast.
"Lauren why arent you getting the same scored-"
"MUM JUST SHUT IT!" I snapped. "IM NOT ELLEN! I WORKED SO HARD ON REVISING FOR THAT TEST AND JUST BECAUSE ITS NOT 100% YOURE GOING TO THROW IT RIGHT BACK AT MY FACE!"

Silence.

"Thats what I thought." I said, sitting down at the table.
"Lauren why are you getting so angry?"
"Because you said if I get my grades up I can be on the cross country team! I have gotten my grades up what more do you want!"
"For you to focus on getting them grades not focusing on some running thing."
"Mum dont you understand? Its my dream to do sports professionally. I dont want to sit behind a desk or work in a lab doing tests on bacteria. I want to be out doing something I love!" I got up, leaving my cereal, walking up to my room, locking the door. I sighed, sitting against my bed, grabbing my phone and messaging Josh.

Lauren: Is it okay if we go out sooner? Mums pissing me off.
Josh💞: Sure. Ill come get you at 10.
Lauren: Thanks xx

I put my phone down, getting up and getting myself ready, putting my hair into a neater high ponytail. I slipped my phone into my jean pocket, walking downstairs and putting my shoes on.
"Im going!" I snapped. I didnt wait for a reply, standing outside my house, Josh showing up a couple minutes later.
"Hey babe." He smiled, taking my hand.
"Hey Josh." I smiled, walking with him to the bowling alley.
"What did your mum do?" He asked.
"Complained that I didnt get 100% in my science test."
"I swear you got 95%?"
"I did!"
"And shes not proud of you?"
"No. Shes my mum after all and nothing I do is good enough for her."
"Hey." He stopped, putting his hands on my shoulders. "Its good enough for me okay?" He smiled. I nodded, smiling back, kissing him gently before we continued our walk to the bowling alley.

When we got there, we split the cost and put on out bowling shoes before walking to our alley. I smiled, going first, getting half the pins down. I got the other half down with my other go. I smiled, Josh getting a strike on his first go.
"Showing off?" I teased.
"Maybe." He smirked, handing me the bowling ball. I smiled, rolling it, getting a strike after him.
"Classy." I laughed. We continued to play, joking around. I won, however he continued to tell me he let me win, but I won fair and square. He smiled, taking my hand after we gave our shoes back.
"Where to now?" I asked softly.
"Well we can go for coffee or go back to mine." He said.
"Coffee sounds go." I smiled, walking towards the coffee shop.
