Joshua looked between me and commander as he digested everything I just told him.
"So all the charges against you-everything that happened earlier, all of its just dropped?" He asked, clearly unsure.
I nodded slowly, slightly anxious about his response.
He sighed to himself before speaking, "Clare I don't trust it-it's too good to be true." He said lowly.
"I've never heard of a Black Ops Regiment or whatever so-"
"That's the point, our regiment is meant to not be known by regular civilians. We are off the radar because the jobs we do, aren't always...politically correct." Commander interjected and explained.
Jay still looked unsure about the whole thing prompting me to speak.
"Look Baby, this shit is a risk-I know that, but if I don't do it I'll be rotting in a jail cell, or probably sitting in an electric chair right now." I spoke
"Yeah it's a risk, but I'm willing to take it if that means I get a chance at a family." I stopped speaking and grabbed his hands.
"Before I left I told you that 'In another life' shit coulda' been different-well this is it jay, this is our change-it's another life."
He looked between us again before speaking, "you trust them?"
I thought to myself a little before responding, "yeah actually, I do." I nodded.
"So I need you to tr-"
"Clare don't say those words," he shook his head.
"You don't get to say them anymore. I trust you but you don't get to ask because every time you have one of us have gotten hurt." He sighed.
He looked at me silently before talking again, "this is the last time but o-okay,"
A smirk covered my face immediately before I spoke, "thas' my baby,"
"I promise, this time is gonna be different-for all of us." I said lowly.
I pulled him to my chest and embraced him before commander interrupted us.
"As heart warming as this moment is-we need to go Willard, now." He said sternly.
I nodded slowly before looking back at Joshua, "remember, 2 weeks-2 weeks and I'll be back." I reminded.
He nodded and followed me to my feet where he grabbed hold of my torso one last time-melting into me.
"I love you."
"I love you too." I said lowly, kissing him back softly as his lips met mine.
A few seconds later I was half way out the door before glancing back at jay and a sleeping Javier.
