"You okay?" I asked, watching as Clare entered the car, slouching in the seat.

"I'm g—" he paused before shaking his head.

"I just had to explain to a 5 year old girl that her mom isn't coming home. Worse than that we had to explain why she'd be moving halfway across the country and I'd only be able to see her over the phone. I wanted to have a relationship with my daughter, but I wanted it under better circumstances." He said honestly.

I gave him a sympathetic look as I caressed the back of his head.

André and Javier looked on quietly as if both of them were unsure of what to say, which was understandable.

"Well like you told me earlier, at least you'll be able to see her," I comforted.

"Yeah you're right, I just feel for her. I know what it's like to lose a parent. Right now I need to be there for her as much as possible." He spoke adamantly.

I nodded understanding and sat back in my seat as he started driving.

For the most part the ride was silent, we were all digesting today in our own way.

Hell, even the dog didn't make a sound.

When we arrived to the apartment we all went our separate ways, there were only two rooms, so Clare and I shared one, while André and Javier shared the other.

Unfortunately since the rooms only had one bed a piece, somebody would have to sleep on the floor, which despite Javiers protest, André insisted on doing.

In the mean time , I decided to give Clare his space so he could not only cope, but figure everything out—I've had experience with this and a degree to back it up, people grieved in different ways, and Clare was someone that needed his space.
