[Transmigrator No. 886 has returned, preparing transfer...]

Ping!

[Transfer successfully completed.]

The clear cover of the pod slid open with a soft hiss, but the girl inside did not move. After giving a long sigh, she opened her eyes and removed the electrodes from her temple one by one.

The young girl then flipped over her belly and pretended to be dead.

Song Jia kicked her legs in the air and pounded her fists against the pod.

"Wuwu..."

She couldn't help but feel that she was too pitiful. She passed so many exams and had finally gotten her license to become a professional transmigrator, but she managed to kill her two hosts. She didn't have the face to see her fellow professional transmigrators anymore. Maybe she should get a new job?

Or maybe a new face?

"Welcome back, transmigrator 886. You are told to proceed to the head's office. Estimated time of his waiting had been fifteen minutes, seven seconds, and thirty-six milliseconds. Reply 'yes' to confirm," a cool female voice announced.

It belonged to the A.I. that supervised the room where Song Jia's astral pod was located. Hearing the announcement, Song Jia's heart sank even more.

She had asked around, and it seemed that it was only her who got the privilege to meet their boss face to face. Since Nova could simply review their memories from the astral pod, there was no need for him to personally see them. Except, of course, if they failed their mission...

Song Jia covered her face with her hands and continued on pretending that she was dead.

The A.I. repeated her command, but Song Jia didn't respond. The A.I. proceeded to the next programmed step, which was to report the situation to its boss.

Nova took one look at the screen, slightly curled his lip, and said indifferently, "Open the emergency chute."

The next thing Song Jia knew, the padded base that she was lying on suddenly slid open, and she fell directly into a chute that led to the morgue.

Thirty minutes later, she came into Nova's office, her whole body wafting a faint smell of formaldehyde.

Song Jia asked him with a black face, "Why did you send me to the morgue?"

Nova didn't look up and only raised an eyebrow. "I thought you were pretending to be dead? I helped you achieve your dream."

Song Jia, "..."

She really hated that she couldn't smack him, ah~

Nova finally looked up at her, pushing away the tablet that he was looking at. He lazily propped his feet on top of his desk.

"Are you worried that you failed your mission? Don't worry, you succeeded."

Without needing any prompt from him, the wall behind him dissolved into pixels and showed a clear video of a flourishing kingdom. The people were healthy and happy, the buildings sturdy and fortified. Without doubt, that world had been saved.

Song Jia was pleasantly surprised, "I didn't fail?"

Nova gave her a disdainful side-eye. "What do you mean, you 'didn't fail'? You killed the original host again, and broke the male god's [1] heart. You didn't even manage to take care of the crown princess properly."

The video changed again, but Nova finally gave her a trace of consideration: "You should sit down before watching this."

He showed her what happened to the world she left, all the events that happened. Song Jia watched it from beginning to end, going paler by the second.

When she saw Xiang Feng killing Princess Bai Xue without breaking out a single drop of sweat, she was speechless.

"...he killed her that easily?"

Nova looked at her. "What do you think? He's the male god of that world. If only you had batted your eyelashes and told him to kill her, you wouldn't have to struggle so much."

"But I didn't want to make him choose!"

Song Jia knew that Xiang Feng still had feelings for Princess Bai Xue, that's why she didn't want to drag him into her own plans. She schemed so much to overthrow her...but in the end, it was him who ended her life so easily.

Nova leaned back on his seat and clicked his tongue.

"Aren't you a human female? Don't you know that if you let a boy have two toys, he would have kept them both? Make him give up one and he would choose his most favorite toy, discarding the other. If you threatened the male god that you would leave him if he didn't kill her, he would have done it in less than a nanosecond."

Song Jia was unconvinced. "What if I wasn't his favorite? Wouldn't he kill me instantly if I gave him an ultimatum?"

"Aren't his actions enough to tell you, his affection for you is definitely a million times more than that vengeful reincarnator?"

Song Jia snorted. "What actions? You asked me if I really am a human female, then ask yourself if you truly know a human male. To get a girl into their bed, they would do all sorts of foolish things that would move her heart. Zhao Cheng's actions were always in favor of Bai Mei Lien, yet in the end, he was actually in love with me. I didn't want to rely on something as fickle as 'love.'"

Nova silently looked at her. He asked cautiously, "How many of your ex-boyfriends dumped you?"

Song Jia, "..."

She was actually the first one to dump all of them, alright!
