Violet put her car in park, watching the man walk down the midnight streets of downtown Macon through her side mirror. You could tell he was on something at first sight. She zipped her turtle neck up, hiding her skin the best she could.

She memorized him already. She knew his schedule, where he worked, where he slept, where he ate, what his favorite meal was, who supplied him with drugs... Everything.

She continued to watch as he walked down the block. Marlon didn't phase her, but she didn't need anything getting in between her and Clementine.

She quietly popped her car door open, waiting for him to walk past.

Marlon noticed the door slightly ajar and froze for a second. Fear left his heart when he realized it was only a woman. A woman you should never underestimate.

"Yo, I got some rocks if you want it." Violet caught his attention, holding the bag of drugs in the palm of her hand.

Marlon sat confused for a second but didn't waste any time, immediately smiling and taking the offer. Just as he reached for the bag, she snatched her hand away, shaking her head.

"Come sit down, we need to have a talk." She spoke clearly, patting the passenger seat.

Marlon checked his watch; 1:56 AM

"It's getting late, man." Marlon mumbled, getting into the car hesitantly. "What's up?"

Violet felt anger building up inside of her, but decided to force it back down for now. She looked to the right of her, shutting her door. The music played softly, in a calming manner, keeping Marlon off his toes. "You know Clementine, right?" Violet asked, passing him the small bag of drugs. Marlon smiled at the sound of her name, but curiosity took over as well.

"Yeah, she's one of my girlfriends. Does she talk about me a lot? I figured." Marlon made assumptions as he unknotted his gift. "You got a card or something?" Violet gave him an index card, already prepared to hand it to him. "Yeah, she talks a lot about you. She's crazy about you, man." Violet played along, watching him snort the bump.

"Yeah, I know. But honestly, she's a whore. We aren't really together anymore, but we still fuck here and there. Haven't seen her in about a year though. She always falls for the same dumb shit. 'I'm sorry, I'll change' and this and that." Marlon let out a quiet chuckle, rubbing his nose, easing the strong burning sensation. He was used to it by now.

"How is she a whore?" Violet asked, engaging in the conversation just to make him feel more comfortable. "Well, she's not a whore, but she's kinky as fuck. She has this thing where she likes to be spanked with the spatula her dad flipped pancakes with or something."

Violet rolled her eyes at him, knowing the story behind that already. "She doesn't like to be spanked, dumb ass. She only did it because you were into it. You know that, right? It disgusted her. If you listened more, you'd know. But, sadly, you're too self-centered to give a shit about anyone other than yourself, right? Right."

Marlon gave her a confused look, then, his heart dropped. "You're the girl she's been talking to..? Shit... I didn't mean to say that she was a whore-"

"It's too late for that shit. In about 5 minutes, you'll be paralyzed. It won't last forever, but just long enough to bury you alive and let you rot. Nobody is gonna find you, I promise."

Marlon tried to move his legs, but they were already stuck in place.

Violet locked the car door and rolled up the window. She started her engine and pulled off slowly, her eyes stuck on him, making sure he couldn't pull any stunts. She watched his eyes dart from left to right, looking for a way out, but even if he could find a way to leave, he wouldn't be able to make it.

Violet had to be back before Clementine woke up.

Violet adjusted her hands on the wheel, feeling some sort of empathy for Marlon. She knew Clementine would miss those blue eyes, blonde locks, and that horrible personality. She thought she was in love. It's understandable. Violet still wasn't completely over her ex either. But it's life.

"I had to."

"No, you didn't."

"I did. Clementine was gonna go back to him. I did it to keep her safe."

"You did it to keep her to yourself. You're crazy."

"I'm not crazy. He had to die. Clementine's safety is my top priority."

"She would be better off with him. You're gonna end up killing her."

"Shut the fuck up."

"You're insane."

"No, I'm in love. Fuck you."

"You need to take your meds, Violet. Take them."

"Yeah, Take them."

"You don't need them. You're fine."

"Yeah, I don't need them."

"Do it for Clementine."

"Fuck Clementine. Violet, you're not crazy."

"Please take them."

"I don't need them, I'm not crazy. Fuck off. I'm done talking."

A conversation like this was typical for Violet to have with the voices in her head. Sometimes, there were multiple voices. There was always one she listened to. The one that agreed with everything she was doing. He always talked her through things. He was the most condescending, but also, the most charming. Listening to him got her with Clementine.

Violet didn't realize she was speeding down her block and jammed on the brakes, making the car squeal and jerk forward. "Fucking hell. You guys can't distract me. What is wrong with you?" She mumbled with her eyes closed.

She regathered herself before pulling into a parking spot, blocking the voices out.

She already had her story together. She went to work, they needed her to help reset some of the heart monitors because they were short for overnight staff. Simple.

-------------------------

Violet took her coat off and hung it on the door quietly, trying not to wake Clementine up.

Clementine let out a sigh, letting Violet know she was awake.

"Sorry I left without saying anything... They had a few problems at work. They needed someone to come and reset all the heart monitors. They kept going off for some reason."

Clementine sat up, holding the sheet to her chest. "Come here. Let me smell you."

Violet didn't even hesitate and instantly walked over to the girl resting on the bed.

"If you smell like heavy cologne, don't even try to stop me from leaving. I'm telling you right now that if you're lying, tell me the truth... Please, don't lie to me. I've been lied to too much already."

"I swear on my life. I was at work. Smell me. I smell like... hospital?" Violet kneeled in front of Clementine, looking her in the eyes, not breaking contact.

Clementine could already smell the scent of the clean hospital sheets on the blonde. She felt her heart skip a beat. There was no faint scent of any perfume or anything... She just smelled like vapor chest rub and a hint of sweat.

Violet gave Clementine a soft smile after a minute of silence before being brought in for a tight hug.

She could hear Clementine sniffling, trying not to overreact. "Thank you... for not being a lying, cheating, scumbag..."

"When I told you I love you, I meant it. Those aren't just random words. I meant it. With everything, I have to offer. Okay? Keep that in mind. I love you. With all of my heart and nothing can change that. No amount of money... no amount of power... Nothing. You are mine and I am yours. For as long as you want me to be.
