Hope Lupin sat in the library, trying to find anything she could on petrified animals. She had even skipped breakfast just to get a start on her day bright and early. Her grey eyes lacked their usual brightness as she skimmed a book on Hippogriffs.
"There you are." she looked up to see Cedric. "I was looking for you at breakfast."
"Skipped it. I wanted to look into petrified animals more." Hope explained.
The Hufflepuff smiled down at his friend. "That's the thing. I have a theory."
Her eyes instantly lit up. "Tell me."
"Well, as you know, petrification is a very complex thing. Dark magic can cause it, or from two creatures. Basilisk or Gorgon." he started to explain.
"What would a Gorgon do in Hogwarts?"
Cedric looked to his friend. "Let me finish."
"Fine."
"It wouldn't make sense for it to be a Gorgon. Their petrification is stone-form. But, as of now, the Basilisk wouldn't make sense either. Where would it be kept? They're huge." finished Cedric.
Hope's eyebrows furrowed. "Neither of those make sense. But, I have History of Magic today. Maybe Binns knows something."
Cedric shrugged. "Once we know more about the Chamber, we can do more research."
"You're right."
