"who's that?"

"the pig?" the darker taylor scared them, having randomly appeared and sat down.

whack.

"she's literally dressed in all pink!"

"doesn't mean you can call her a pig!"

"if this is what love is then i don't want it," neville anxiously spoke.

"tough love?" phoebe said, her statement having come out more like a question.

"it's that umbridge woman!"

"umbitch," maddy muttered, making herself giggle.

hermione smiled for a second before realizing what she said, so she smacked her again.

"who?"

"she was at my hearing, she works for fudge!"

"nice cardigan," ron smirked.

"she works for fudge?"

"what on earth is she doing here, then?" maddy finished her girlfriend's thoughts.

"dunno," harry replied as hermione scanned the staff table.

"no, no, surely not," the brunette muttered.

professor grubbly-plank made her way to the seat that was supposed to be occupied by hagrid, meaning the great hall was about to be swarmed with nervous first-years.

sure enough, a couple seconds later, the group came in, being led by professor mcgonagall, who was carrying a stool with the sorting hat.

once the older witch arrived to the front, she placed down the things she was carrying while the first years lined up.

the great hall came to a silence, waiting for the next step of the sorting:

In times of old when I was new

And Hogwarts barely started

The founders of our noble school

Thought never to be parted:

United by a common goal,

They had the selfsame yearning,

To make the world's best magic school

And pass along their learning.

'Together we shall build and teach!'

The four good friends decided

And never did they dream, that they

Might some day be divided,

For were there such friends, anywhere

As Slytherin and Gryffindor?

Unless it was the second pair

Of Hufflepuff and Ravenclaw?

So how could it have gone so wrong?

How could such friendships fail?

Why I was there and so can tell

The whole, sorry tale.

Said Slytherin, 'We'll teach just those whose ancestry is purest.'

Said Ravenclaw, 'We'll teach those whose intelligence is surest'

Said Gryffindor, 'We'll teach all those with brave deeds to their name'
