Break-In

Brielle POV

Watching hours of security camera footage within the span of thirty minutes is wildly tiresome, not to mention really tests my patience. I've watched two hours after curfew so far, and so far nothing.

I forced my eyes to stay open as this is putting me to sleep when I was promptly brought back to reality by a concerning sound. I paused the recording from the cameras and looked up at my office door to see the once locked handle turning, did someone just pick my lock? My anxiety level spiked as the worst came to mind, the scepter is missing and anyone could have stolen it so yes I'm already anxious as it is, this has made it worse.

I stared at my door as it opened, and in crept... Harriet and CJ? They didn't even look at me they just snuck in as if I wasn't here. I furrowed my brow and watched as Harriet let CJ in,

"Told ya I could still work a bobby pin"

Harriet said with a snarky tone as CJ crept in after her. CJ carefully shut the door without a sound and smirked widely right after.

I smirked some myself as they didn't even realize I was here... until I cleared my throat that is. Their heads whipped over to me with big eyes the second I made a sound,

"Can I help you both with something?"

I kindly asked them with a smile, planning on giving them the same gentle treatment that I gave the first group of VKs no matter how much they messed up. Not to mention, maybe this is a chance to get them to like me more. Harriet and CJ stared at me for a few solid seconds, frozen in time,

"Harriet, you idiot you didn't even check to see if she was actually here!"

CJ whisper yelled, Harriet looked over to her with an offended look,

"You could've checked too!"

Harriet whisper yelled right back, I chuckled and slowly stood from my desk,

"Well you two were obviously coming for a reason, take a seat"

I calmly offered. The two sisters looked at each other and slowly back to me, very suspicious of me for sure. They eventually crept over to my desk where I slowly sat down and motioned to the two seats in front of me where they wearily sat,

"We're in trouble aren't we?"

CJ said with a slight groan and a slightly frightful tone. Harriet sighed and fiddled with her thumbs nervously and anxiously, something I've noticed with almost every VK I've ever seen is when they're put into a stressful situation they get very twitchy and anxious before letting it all go, and because I don't want to have another scene occur today I reassured them,

"Not necessarily, even I have picked locks to get to things I want or need before you're not the first ones and it's not groundbreaking. Now, what I would love to know is why you two were attempting a break into my office?"

They both looked back to me when I mentioned I've picked locks before, at this point who hasn't? They looked a little more intrigued that's for sure. CJ looked over to Harriet with a sort of look, Harriet looking at her with a combating one as if they were silently arguing whether to tell me or not. I simply stayed quiet and patiently waited as eventually under the silent pressure one of them will break I know it. Suddenly CJ blurted out,

"We wanted to snoop and find out more about you!"

She quickly yelled, Harriet groaned and kicked her under the table which caused her to jolt back. I raised a brow and smiled some more,

"Find out more about me? What for?"

Harriet groaned and rolled her eyes,

"Because we can't figure out why you, the Queen of Auradon of all people, would choose to date our brother"
