chapter 24

Seoul, 2010

Soobin was sitting on the floor, his back leaned against the white wall behind him as his sad and worried eyes kept being fixed on Jimin in front of him whose face was bruised, tears falling from the corner of his eyes every now and then. "I'm so sorry", he mumbled, drawing older's teary eyes on himself.

"It's my fault. I didn't obey them", Jimin said as he wiped his tears with the sleeve of his sweater.

Soobin groaned heavily as he looked over at his brother who was curled up into a ball in the corner and sleeping, little snores escaping his pale lips softly. Fortunately, they always avoided hurting Taehyun since he was weak because of his lung cancer and they didn't want him to die since he was very necessary to them. Plus, his parents wouldn't keep their secret anymore if anything happened to him. They had already lost two experimental subjects but they were taken from streets unlike Taehyun and Soobin, so they couldn't risk with them.

It had already been two months since Soobin and Taehyun were brought there and they had already been tortured enough to know what Jimin said to them on their first meeting was true, it was really a living hell being in there as they used to do tons of injections to them and beat them up whenever they were being disobedient.

Suddenly, the door swung open and one security guard walked inside, scanning the room and stopping his eyes on Soobin, who was looking up at him with scared eyes. "You", he said, pointing at him with his index finger, "Come here".

Soobin glanced over at Jimin with a questioning look, before slowly getting on his feet and walking up to the man, his body shaking from fear. The guard grabbed his arm harshly and yanked him towards the door before Jimin's voice stopped him, "Where are you taking him?", he asked and boldly marched towards them, staring up at the man with a deadly stare as his face looked angry.

"What's up?", the man asked in irritation, turning his nose up arrogantly, "Weren't those punches enough for you? Do you want more?"

"No", Soobin yelled at once as he stared up at the man with pleading eyes, afraid that he might cause more trouble to his friend. "Take me".

The guard pulled Soobin out after that and locked the door from the outside, Jimin punching it from the other side, knowing he could do literally nothing to save his friend. The guard and Soobin passed several halls before he saw a young boy, about 4 or 5 years older than him, sitting on the chair, in front of operating theater, his eyes looking sad and sorrowful as he spotted the younger boy, whose body filled with hope at seeing his kind and friendly stare. "Please, help me", he begged, causing the boy to bow his head immediately, "Please".

The boy shook his head, never raising his head up as he muttered sadly, "I'm sorry", his words were barely audible for Soobin, who didn't stop pleading before he was pulled forcefully into the operating room which was crowded with several surgeons with Yoongi and his father among them.

"Lay him down", Ilseong, Yoongi's father commanded.

Soobin's eyes grew wide as one surgeon grabbed his arm and pulled him towards the operating table, he tried to confront them before they tied his arms on the bed but vainly, since they were rather strong than a child. "I beg you, stop, please", Soobin cried as tears flowed down his face, his heart beating in his ears, blocking out all the other sounds. The color completely drained from his face as he saw one surgeon placing herself behind him with a huge needle in her hand, fear crippling him as his breath became extremely rapid. "Please", he begged again, his voice breaking violently as he pulled his hands, trying to get free.

"You are doing it for your brother", Ilseong spoke, evil smirk dancing on his lips. "We need to examine implant on a healthy body before to make sure that it has no negative effects. You don't want anything bad happen to Taehyun, right?", he said, causing Yoongi to growl from irritation since he knew his father had other intentions too than just checking what side effects their implant could cause.
