Head under the pillow,

To block out the shouts,

I cannot take their fighting.

Shouting and screaming,

I cannot think,

As tears flow from my eyes.

It is all my fault,

That mummy and daddy fight so,

I should have listened.

Daddy warned me, put away my toys,

Before mummy gets home,

but I didn't, I was having fun.

Mummy came home,

She was awfully glum,

She threatend to paddle my bum.

Daddy stepped in, trying to calm,

That is how it did begin,

It is all my fault, everytime.

...

I did not hear them stop,

Only daddy's snoring,

Coming from the floor.

I woke my daddy up,

He can sleep with me in my bed,

It is big enough for both of us.

Quitely we lay together,

Listening to the night,

How peaceful, calm and quite.

...

Daddy fell asleep,

He did not hear mummy come in,

She kissed us both good night.

He did not hear her cry,

Or say she is sorry,

But I did, so I forgave her for both of us.
