Power of speech,

Seperates us from the beasts.

Spoken eloquence,  eloquently elocuted,

Baffles simple minds.

Swaying, deep vibration of tone,

Weakens knees of most.

Inspirational speeches orated theatrically,

Can lead a path to destruction!

Craft a wall of deception,

Upon a foundation of convincing,

By mere fact of showmanship.

How easily a heart do woe,

Upon susceptible ears,

With words of amore,

From glib, trained discourse.

What of the snaked tongue,

That spews forth venemous,

Attacks upon characters,

Through confabulations conflagration,

To great ruinious effect?

How little we dwell and ponder,

On the power we weild,

By merely opening the hole,

To issue forth forces,

Either constructive or destructive,

Even loving or hateful.

Willingly or unwittingly,

We utter afore we think.

Consequences dealt with afterwards,

With more pretty words,

Of sorrow and regret.

The tongue and words,

Are fine bedfellows,

But add a threesome to the deal,

A most monsterous villian is born!

The conniving, manipulative organ,

That rules all discourse.

The brain!

Worst of all, truth be told,

All politicians have one.

Yet heroes of the word,

Do live to spread their works,

Using the written form,

To create stories or poetry,

To make us weep, laugh or smile.

Painting pictures in our minds,

Leading us on adventures,

Taking us where the body cannot go.

The words they write,

are like a match struck in the darkness,

Searching for that candle,

So as to burn and guide us,

On a journey of self discovery.

The power of words, will never perish.
