Trust

I put my trust in you,

Believed the words you wove.

Let you fool me...

Play with my emotions.

Sat by and watched the signs,

Obvious to all around,

Except me!

How obtuse I was,

Let me emphasise was!

No more!

My eyes are open,

My ears deaf to your pleas!

What was once sacred!

Pure!

Unbroken!

Has been sullied by your actions!

Like a dog, with tail between your legs,

You creep upon your belly,

Begging, pleading, suing for forgiveness!

You think the small gestures...

You deem magnanimous of yourself,

Sufficient to right the wrong,

You committed?

Little do you perceive,

Or take cognisance of your actions.

If you truly had feeling,

Feelings for me,

You would not have done what you have!

Respect,  compassion, loyalty,

Would have meant something more...

Been more precious.

You cannot win back trust,

By making small amends.

What is destroyed cannot be raised,

Like a phoenix from the ashes.

You would have to earn,

To work,

To soldier diligently,

At repairing the damage.

Even then, the cracks remain,

Fragile, delicate, easily broken,

By the merest breeze.

The slightest misconception,

Will crush what you try to patch.

No!

Keep your measly sycophant gifts,

Waste no more time,

Upon this heart,

No more does it beat for you.

You shattered it!

Along with my trust,

Left it upon the floor for me to pick up!

The hour glass is empty...

Broken!
