Warning: this song makes me want to cry
----
The sun was beginning to set over the Washington horizon, the trees were losing their leaves as the winter was setting in. You were just coming in, carrying a bag of items. Diane was looking over some documents, holding her head up with her fingers tangled in her hair. "Hey sweetheart." You spoke softly to her, setting the paper bag on the counter. Gently rubbing her shoulders, you found that there were multiple knots in her back. "Is it the full moon already?" You asked, looking over the chart. "It is. I'll be in the basement tonight. What did you get?" Diane looked up, turning to face you. She looked tired, frustrated from the documents and happy to see you. "I got some dog toys, but the dog toys for big dogs. I got you a kong, we can fill that up with peanut butter, I know you love that." You winked at her, a look of embarrassment on her face. You remembered that day perfectly.
Diane had turned into a werewolf unexpectedly in bed one night. To combat the need to nibble on your ear, she went and had some peanut butter. What you didn't expect to wake up to was Diane waking you up whimpering because she got her muzzle stuck and cleared the whole jar. You spent the rest of the night trying to get the peanut butter out of her mouth.
You pulled out the other toys. "I got you a cow knuckle to chew on." You handed it to her, seeing her look at you a little grossed out. "Trust me, you'll be chewing on it." You handed her a giant stuffed animal. "Every appendage of this plush has a squeaker. I got this from a friend, it's filled with rice so it's safe to eat if you rip it open." You explained, seeing her already play with the squeakers. "And I got you a giant tire chew. I'm gonna fill this with safe to eat cookie dough." You showed her the cookie dough and smiled. Diane grabbed the tire, then grinned. "Cookie dough? What did I do so well?" She asked, grinning. "Well, you know..." Your face got red, recalling the last full moon. She was most definitely in a mood and made you the one howling on the full moon. "I'm just teasing, you." Diane giggled, getting up and taking the toys downstairs. You followed after her, seeing that the room had been cleaned. In fact, she kept the dog bed you gave her even though she chewed it up immediately the next night. You couldn't have gotten mad at her though, it was so sweet to see a giant brown bipedal wolf laying on her back wagging her tail.
Diane placed the toys around the bed carefully, opening the scratched up cabinet to view the many food items. Peanut butter, cookie dough, dog treats, bags of chips, and all different kinds of candy. "Are you even able to eat chocolate as a werewolf?" You asked, picking up a bag of many kinds of chocolate bars. "I can. I just become wolf-like, not full wolf. I can still digest chocolate." Diane explained happily, excited that you would want to know more about her werewolf situation. "Well that gives me ideas." You grinned, giving her a kiss. "And what about your taste?" You added, a smile curling her lips. "You ever want to taste the differences in water on a deeper level?" She asked, a look of slight awe on your face. "I do." You whispered. The clock chimed for the sun finally setting. "I need to stay in here. If you want to stay here with me, you can." Diane offered, sitting in the dog bed. "You're silly to think I wouldn't stay down here. I like to spend time with you. What did you do when you first turned?" You asked, sitting beside her.
Diane began to remove her shirt and pants to protect them from ripping. "I was wild, I focused on my instincts. After a few years, after Chloe, I learned to focus on my human side. It was always there, just had to chill out a bit." Diane explained, filling the kong with peanut butter and the tire with cookie dough. Diane had gotten turning down to a t, a shake and gently rubbing her face to ease the pain helped her to quickly transform fully. Her stance was strong, eyes focused on her surroundings.
Diane was chewing on the tire, tail wagging. You ran your fingers through her dense fur, finding her favorite places to be scratched and places she couldn't reach. Getting up to get water from upstairs, you accidentally left the door open.
Turning on the faucet and getting cold water, your attention was stolen by the happy yips from Diane. Setting the glass down carefully, you trailed after her. She rose to her hind legs, her brown fur glittering in the autumnal moonlight. She was beautiful even in her animalistic form, there was no denying that the autumnal goddess herself was the embodiment of the better things in life like warm apple pie with vanilla ice cream and hot cocoa with whipped cream.
Diane continued to prance, soon finding you pinned under her in the leaves. The moon above her framed her still delicate features. Gently cupping her cheek, you pressed a kiss to her forehead. "I could stay like this forever with you." You mumbled, Diane's warmth seeping into you and bringing you to sleep.
In the morning, Diane was still laying on top of you, her head on your chest. She had been circling you as you slept, trying to find the best way to cuddle with you. She had sheltered the two of you with pine branches and leaves, the warmth billowing from the two of you created a faint steam as the two temperatures collided. Perhaps the full moon could bring more warm snuggles.
