summary: virgil thinks his boyfriend cheated on him, so he cheats on him with his friend. all he's left with is guilt.

Virgil loved his boyfriend more than he ever believed to be possible, but he was currently angry at the said man for "cheating" on him. After explaining the whole ordeal to his friend Logan, the nerd sighed. "He didn't cheat on you. You broke up with each other for a specific period of time or, in your words, you took a break. Besides, you encouraged him plenty of times to see other people, which he did. I don't see the issue here."

With a scoff and a shake of his head, Virgil quickly replied. "That's not the point. We took a break; we didn't officially break up. And-" Virgil continued, ignoring Logan mumbling, "You said it was official." "I didn't see other people, so that should've hinted to him that he shouldn't be either."

Logan sighed. "You can't expect him to read your mind, Virgil. First off, that's unfair to him. Second off, you know Roman's not that smart." The distressed man bit his lip, not listening to his friend's reasoning. He suddenly paused and looked up at Logan. "I should get him back."

Nervously chuckling, Logan shook his head in confusion. "I'm sorry, what?" "SeriouslWe can only move past this is if we're both even. I know this is a super uncomfortable question, but can I kiss...you?" Logan ran a hand down his face. "Virgil, I may not know a lot about...whatever this is, but I can guarantee you that whatever you're thinking is a bad idea, and you will regret it."

Virgil glanced down at Logan's lips. "Is it?" Logan stared into his friend's eyes, finding himself tempted to selfishly indulge in what Virgil wanted.

"You what?" Roman's brother Janus shouted as Virgil told him the next day. "Could you quiet down? Look, I know it sounds bad-" "Because it is bad." The defensive man sighed. "But at least Roman and I can be even, and we don't have to think about it ever again. And he'll never cheat on me again after knowing what it feels like." He said with a shrug.

Janus scoffed. "Do you not hear how unbelievably toxic you sound right now? He did not cheat on you; you broke up with him, and you stayed split up for three months. He got a new boyfriend, and you got jealous, so you convinced him to leave his boyfriend and get back with you instead. Now you're trying to make him feel bad for moving on by cheating on him with his friend."

Virgil sputtered, trying to find some excuse. "When you put it like that, i-it sounds-" "It sounds like exactly what it is, it's terrible." Janus got up to start leaving. "Look, I understand that you are naturally inclined to believe he's cheating on you. But my brother isn't capable of something that cruel, especially because of how in love with you he is. Roman was not dating you, so he went with someone else after you encouraged him to. You need to accept the fact that you accused Roman of something he didn't do, and you cheated on him."

"What about you? You're a cheater; what makes Roman any different? He's your brother, after all." The defensive boy spat bitterly. As he pulled his jacket on, Janus raised an eyebrow. "I never cheated, despite your insistence on that narrative. I fell in love with someone else, so I broke up with Patton before getting together with the new guy. We are not the same, don't even try."

With a scoff, Janus walked away from Virgil's table in shock. The reality of his situation sunk in as Virgil teared up, hand covering his mouth. 'Roman isn't a cheater; I am. I cheated on my boyfriend, and I can't take that away.'
