Felixs' POV

"Did you hear that?" Jude's head, shot side to side as he tried to figure out which direction the scream had come from.

Y/n's been missing for about a week. Jude's gotten no rest, although I badger him to get some.

"Yes," I answered, looking in the direction the scream came from. "Should we go check it out?" I asked unsurely.

"Yes, the scream sounded feminine. It could be Y/n for all we know." Jude answered, walking in that direction.

"I understand but," I hesitated. "what if it's a trap?"

Jude turned my way, glaring at me. "I don't care. I'm willing to take the risk."

"Well, I'm not!" I threw my arms up dramatically. "We just lost Malcolm-"

"And now we've lost Y/n! We are going to find her, I don't care what you have to say. You can go alone if you want or you can follow me." He spat.

I lowered my head, pursing my lips together, trying not to argue back although I had the urge to.

We walked silently. I didn't talk knowing Jude would probably burst out in anger again.

"Ow! Fu-mm" I stumbled, muffling my curse, tripping on a sharp root that stuck out of the ground.

"What?" Jude sighed heavily, looking at me. I was holding my leg with both hands clasped around it, jumping up and down on one foot.

"That stupid tree!" I unclasped my hands, pointing at the root, still jumping.

Jude concealed his laughter, but I saw right through his mask. "You'll heal."

I dropped my leg, looking at Jude with narrowed eyes. "I know you're trying not to laugh." I huffed.

"I don't know what you're talking about." He denied my accusation.

"Mhm, sure." I licked my lips before we continued our journey.

--

Another scream.

Sounds of stone breaking.

It's been a day since we've heard the last scream. This time it sounded closer.

"Come on." Jude rushed me and started jogging, looking left and right.

"I don't-" I panted, tired. "I don't think- we're close." My jogging pace slowed.

"It sounded close." Jude refused to believe we weren't going to find the source of the scream.

I stopped jogging, heaving heavily, as did Jude. "It's been-" I leaned on the nearest tree. "13 minutes and we still can't find anything." I pointed out. "We aren't near whoever screamed."

"Yes, we a-" He started.

"No, we're not," I interrupted him. "it could've been an echo. We are in a forest after all." I informed.

"I know." Jude seethed, leaning against his own tree, his head tilted back as he stared at the orange-lit sky. "I have to find her," he whispered.

"What?" I asked now sitting on the floor, perched against the tree. I had heard what he said, however, I could have heard him wrong, he had whispered it so quietly.

"Nothing." He shook his head, dismissing me. "Let's continue walking."

"Wait," Jude had started walking off again. "can we take a break? We were running for a while." I said sheepishly. Jude reluctantly agreed, walking back, sitting across from me.
