CHAPTER 15

Amelia looked at Sam. Nag t-type na naman ito sa computer nito at hindi man lang siya tinatapunan ng tingin.

She was finished reading the newspapers, drank her coffee and looked at her schedules for the day. Kaya naman wala na siyang ibang ginawa kundi titigan ang dalaga sa harap niya na ilang dipa lang ang layo sa kanya.

Sam's face wasn't oily today. Mukhang sinunod nito ang payo niya. Sam was even wearing a peach colored dress na hanggang hita lang nito. All in all, napaka-presentable nito. Dagdag points ata sa kanya na maganda na ang suot suot nitong damit sa opisina niya for the past few weeks.

Hindi din siya nito kinasuhan o kinausap tungkol sa ginawa niya dito noong nakaraang linggo. In which she was grateful for. She knew she was breaching the company protocol sa ginawa niya.

Looking at Sam now. Napangiti siya dahil ang cute ng pagkakakunot ng noo nito. Yes, she's supposed to hate Sam but Amelia couldn't. Sam had shown that she was caring and thoughtful sa ginagawa nito despite what Sam's mouth is spewing.

Umangat ang gilid ng labi niya. She liked the way Sam backed on the corner of the back seat noong nakaraang linggo. Not because she wants to torture Sam but because she was teasing na hindi naman nito pinatulan.

Her phone suddenly dinged and Amelia took her eyes off Sam. Kumunot ang noo niya and looked at the message. It was from Christian.

Tumibok ng malakas ang puso ni Amelia sa message nito. Then her hands became sweaty. Christian is finally going to talk to her! Hindi niya maintindihan kung bakit para siyang bata na na-excite sa message nito.

Christian gave her the silent treatment nitong mga nakaraan dahil sa ginawa niya. Kaya nga hindi siya nag aantay ng message mula dito.

Hindi maiwasang mapangiti ni Amelia.

'Hon. Ang lamig dito! I wish you're here.'

'Hindi ka na galit sakin?' Amelia smiled when she sent that message.

'Hon. Hindi na. I'm sorry. I swear I will change. From now on. I will be a caring husband. So please... pwede na ba akong bumalik diyan sa Pilipinas?'

Kumunot ang noo ni Amelia. Is he up to his old tricks again? Mabilis siyang nag type ng message para dito.

'Christian, you agreed to handle the business there for 6 months.'

'Yes, I know Hon but I suddenly missed you.'

'No. Christian, I really need your help there. I missed you too but I think it will take months for you to learn what you did.'

'You only care about your business and career.'

Then he was offline again.

Naisuklay ni Amelia ang kamay sa ulo niya. Pumintig din ang sentido niya. He was manipulating her? Akala ba nito hindi niya mapapansin? Akala niya pa naman ay naalala na nitong nag e-exist pa siya. But she was dead wrong. He only wants her to make him come back.

She knew that she cares about her career before pero she was trying. Hindi ba nito nakita nitong mga nakaraan? But Christian was the one avoiding her. Nang ipaluto niya ito, he quickly left and God knows where he went. She also bought that pajama just to seduce him but he ignored her.

"Problem, boss?"

Tumalim ang tingin ni Amelia kay Sam. Sa tingin niya kaya gustong umuwi ni Christian sa Pilipinas ay para makita ulit ito. But she will not allow that to happen. Mag tiis ito doon. She had enough of his bullshits. She needs to settle all of this mess bago pa umuwi si Christian.

Natigilan naman ito sa tingin niya and lowered her head.

Amelia closed her eyes tightly and exhaled a breath. Si Christian ang nag papainit ng ulo niya but here she is about to lash out on Samantha. She put her phone down.

She inhaled deeply and rubbed her eyes with the heels of her palms. "It's nothing, Sam."

But her voice betrayed what she was feeling. Mataas ang tono niya.

"If it was nothing then you wouldn't be so stressed---"

Amelia was about to lash out when her smartphone dinged again. She looked at the screen expecting to see Christian's message on a social media app but it wasn't. The message was from Bridgette.

Muling kinuha ni Amelia ang phone niya sa lamesa at binuksan ang message nito.

'Is this Bridgette's Boss? My wife just delivered the baby. You said to text you when she already gave birth. We are at the St. Therese Hospital.'

Nanlaki ang mga mata niya. Bridgette had delivered her baby! Lumarawan ang ngiti sa mga labi niya. She told her former secretary that she'll be there kapag nanganak ito. She grew fond of her friendship with the woman and they agreed to be there with each other kapag nagkaroon na din siya ng baby.

"Now, you're smiling Boss." Sam looked at her for the second time. Ngayon na lang ulit ito ngumiti. "At least you're happy."

Tumayo si Amelia. She grabbed her bag and looked at Sam. "Sam. Get ready we're going to the hospital."

"Is one of your family got into an accident?"

Tumayo din agad ito at may pag aalala sa mukha na tinitigan siya.

Amelia couldn't help but smile. It was cute how Sam had been showing her concerns lately. Parang dati kailangan niya pang tanungin dito kung concern ba talaga ito. And Amelia realized that Sam doesn't deserve that. Tao ito natural lang siguro na mag alala ito. Hindi naman siguro ito ganun kasamang tao.

If only Sam wasn't Christian's mistress, then they could have been friends dahil kaya naman niyang makisama kahit na iba ang personality sa kanya ng isang tao.

"It's Bridgette she just gave birth."

"Ah." Sam exhaled a breath. "Ok, I'll drive Boss. Just tell me where's the hospital."

Amelia told Sam where the hospital is. It's a 30-minutes drive from the RC2 building. They both got out of the building and took the blue company car.

Tinitigan ni Amelia si Sam nang nasa highway na sila. Bumalik sa alaala niya ang sinabi nito. Gusto niya sabang sabihin na wala siyang maaksidenteng pamilya dahil matagal ng patay ang ina niya. Her father wasn't in the Philippines at all.

She would be concerned if her father really got into an accident but maybe he won't let her inside the hospital at all.

Amelia sighed.

"Ang lalim nun, Boss ah?" Sam glanced at her. "Are you alright?"

Amelia looked at Sam. Gustong gusto niya itong tanungin kung totoo nga talagang nagiging concern na ito sa kanya. But she chooses to shake her head. Sam wasn't her friend. Hindi niya alam kung kailangan niyang sabihin dito ang mga bumabagabag sa kanya.

"So. You really are friends with your secretary."

Amelia smiled. "Well, we could be friends Sam... but I don't want that."

Kumunot ang noo nito sa sinabi niya but didn't say anything.

And Amelia couldn't help but laughed. Ang cute kasi ng pagkakunot ng noo nito. Bahagya din kasing nag p-pout ang mapula nitong labi. It was so subtle that she could have missed it if she didn't look at it.

Napakagat labi si Amelia. Pagpapanggap pa ba o pang aakit kung naiisip niyang halikan ang labi ni Sam?

Amelia shook herhead. What is she thinking?
