"What's this?" Amelia put a hand to her mouth as soon as she saw the set-up in the living room. Her face broke out into a happy smile. A letter on the wall said 'Happy Anniversary, Wifey'.
The whole place is littered with balloons, and the letters are full of glitter and coloured in pink. Their house was pitched dark when she entered but as soon as she walked towards the living room, the whole place lit up.
Christian smiled at her. "Hindi lang yan."
Lalong lumawak ang ngiti sa mukha niya nang may ilabas ito sa kamay nito. It was a bouquet of flowers. He put it in front of her and made a grin at her.
Amelia's heart suddenly felt full. Parang sasabog ang dibdib niya sa ginawang effort ng asawa. She didn't wait for him to say another word. Niyakap niya ito at pinalibutan ng halik sa labi.
Christian laughed and held her shoulder to look at her face.
Amelia couldn't help the tears that welled in her eyes. Ang sweet sweet nito. Sa kanilang dalawa ay ito talaga ang mahilig mag surprise. Hindi niya inaasahan iyon dahil bago sila mag hiwalay kanina ay may drama pa itong nag tatampo sa kanya dahil hindi niya napagbigyan na uuwi siya.
She was busy with the first hotel she was managing, and it was still in its baby form.
After grumbling, Christian finally agreed to let her be and he told her na hindi na ito mag tatampo kung pwede siya nitong sunduin ng maaga sa hotel.
At ito na nga ang bumungad sa kanya.
"Do you like it?" Ngiting ngiti ito at tiningnan ang ginawa nitong surpresa sa kanya. Then back at her face.
Amelia smiled and nodded her head. "Yes, thank you, Hon."
Christian wrapped his hands around her waist. "You are always worth it, Honey."
Amelia made a face at him. "If I know, you just want to make love tonight."
Umalog ang balikat nito. Then he threw his head back laughing. Nang ibaling nito ang tingin sa kanya ay ginalaw galaw nito pataas at pababa ang kilay nito.
"Paano mo nahulaan, huh?"
Sa sinabi nito ay nakagat niya ang labi niya. Christian's eyes became hooded and it focused on her lips.
Amelia leaned in, and so was he.......
"Boss?"
Amelia turned to look at Bridgette. Her thoughts were cut off when she saw her secretary enter her office. May dala dala itong tasa ng kape at diyaryo.
There is a worried wrinkle in Bridge's eyes nang titigan niya ito.
Amelia sighed. She went back to the time with Christian kung saan ok pa sila. Hindi niya alam kung bakit biglang sumingit sa isip niya iyon. Maybe its because of what he messaged her.
'Hon. I am already a changed man. Napapansin mo naman siguro. I am behaving here in New York. Sinabi na siguro sayo ni Cindy na madami akong accomplishments. I miss you. Gusto ko nang umuwi. I want to start anew.'
Is he finally changing? Bumabalik na ba ang dating Christian na minahal niya noon?
He would constantly send her picture of what he was doing in New York. Tapos nag s-send din si Cindy ng mga accomplishment ng asawa niya. Madalas na din siya nitong binabati ng 'Good morning' sa umaga. He would also ask her about her day.
But there was something seriously changed within her. She couldn't still put a finger into it. Yes, she's happy he was messaging her and finally theres changes na matagal niyang inasam. Pero hindi niya malaman kung masaya siya dahil bumabalik na ito sa dating Christian o dahil mahal niya pa ito.
Amelia put a hand to her temple and massaged it. Should she forgive him and make him come back? There's only one thing she could do para malaman kung sino ang mas matimbang sa dalawa. She has to make Christian go back.
"Boss?"
"Y-Yes?" Amelia turned to look at Bridgette. Hindi niya na napansin na andito pa pala ito.
"Tinatanong kita, Boss. Ok ka lang ba?"
"Y-Yes. I just----I just need time to think."
Bridgette was about to go out of her office nang tawagin niya ito.
"Bridge." Amelia looked at her secretary.
Bridgette sat on the chair. "Mukhang mahaba haba ang usapan natin ngayon, Boss. Baka mangalay ako."
Amelia smiled and shook her head. Bridgette pulled a joke on her, and she's thankful it made the situation lighter.
"I am asking you this as a friend."
Tumango ito.
Huminga siya ng malalim bago sabihin ang susunod na salitang lalabas sa bibig niya. "Papauwiin ko na si Christian."
Napatayo si Bridgette sa upuan at nanlaki ang mga mata sa kanya. But before Bridgette's eyebrows turn into a frown. Itinaas niya na ang kamay niya.
"I want to know what I feel, Bridge. Hangga't hindi ko ma-i-k-kumpara kung ano ba talaga ang nararamdaman ko. Hanggang hindi ko alam kung sino ang mas matimbang. Mahihirapan akong mamili. There is so much to consider here. Asawa ko si Christian. Legal kami. Kung piiliin ko si Sam. There is a divorce that I have to file and what if lust lang ang nararamdaman ko kay Sam? Would it be unfair to her kung iiwan ko siya? And I would destroy my marriage with the man I love. That's losing two battles."
Muli siyang huminga ng malalim. Bridgette returned to sit on the chair and closed her eyes tightly before opening them. Bridgette's mouth opened, and Amelia put her hands up again.
"What if si Christian ang mahal ko? Then I would have lost Sam's friendship and adoration. The up side is I can save my marriage with Christian. Inakit ko naman talaga si Sam dahil doon. Pero hindi ko inaasahan na magugustuhan ko ang ugali ni Sam. She's cold and tough on the outside but she's a softy on the inside. Gusto ko na inaalagaan niya ako. Gusto ko na lagi siyang nakaalalay sakin. Gusto ko nang mga panahong inalagaan niya ako, kahit alam niyang galit ako sa kanya noon. She's also became a friend to me, a very special friend who saw me vulnerable pero hindi ako hinusgahan. She was an amazing person and....."
'I love our intimacy. It felt so right and natural.' Amelia stopped what she was about to say. Hindi na kailangang malaman ni Bridgette iyon. She could go on and on about Sam pero ayaw niya namang hindi makuha ni Bridge ang gusto niyang sabihin kung magdadadaldal lang siya, out of topic.
Tinaasan siya nito ng kilay. "And?"
Amelia looked away. Ramdam niya ang init na kumalat sa pisngi niya.
Hindi kumibo si Bridgette sa sinabi niya kaya naman nilingon niya ito. Bridgette had a naughty smirked on her face.
"Boss." Iniling pa nito ang ulo. Then her secretary sighed. "Alright. Let him come home. You have to decide. Tutal naman ay 2 months wala si Sam. Maybe you could sort your feelings out by then."
"Thank you, Bridge." Amelia took a step towards Bridgette and hugged her. Malaking ang pasasalamat niya na naging kaibigan niya ito.
Tinapik din nito ang likod niya. "You are amazing too, Boss. So kung ano man ang magiging desisyon mo. Susuportahan kita."
Amelia smiled. Inalis niya na ang pagkakayakap dito. Bridgette nodded her head one last time and exited her office.
Tila lumuwag ang dibdib niya nang sabihin kay Bridgette iyon.
But I still don't know if they are still together. Amelia thought and looked out of the window. Wala namang sinasabi si Sam sa kanya.
Napabuntonghininga siya.
