AUTHOR'S POV:

"I'll do it. I'll do it! I don't know if I can plug the hole or not but I'll do it!" Eren said with determination.

Mikasa and Faye were watching him intently and Armin was surprised.

"Well said!" Pixis said and smiled, patting his shoulders. "You're a real man!" He stood and walked over to the edge of the Wall, cupping his mouth with one hand and raising his other arm. "Calling all staff officers! We have a plan to put together!"

"Huh?! You can't be serious!" Armin said with disbelief. "It was just some half-baked plan I came up with on the spot! We're actually going through with it?!"

"That's what I thought, too, but there's no point in doubting his decision," Eren said. "Commander Pixis must be envisioning something that we can't yet see."

"Something we can't see?" Armin asked.

"Plus, I think there's a bigger issue that needs to be addressed before we can carry out the plan. And the commander is keenly aware of it." Eren explained.

"That means..." Armin said.

"That the Titans aren't the only enemy." Eren replied.

Mikasa, Faye and Armin were shocked.

"What?!" Faye exclaimed.

"Time is of the essence," Pixis said, grabbing the attention of the four of them. They stood up and faced him.

"We're counting on you, young soldiers," Pixis said, flanked by his subordinates.

On the other side of the Wall, people whispered amongst each other.

"It's said that before the Titans ruled the land," Pixis told Eren, "humankind consisted of people of different races and creeds and that they perpetually fought with and killed each other." He continued. "Supposedly someone back then said that if a powerful enemy that wasn't human ever appeared, humanity would likely cease its fighting and come together as one. What is your opinion?"

"I'd never heard that legend before," Eren replied. "Well, it seems pretty optimistic. Doesn't interest me though."

Pixis laughed and looked over his shoulder. "You have a cynical mind, just like me."

"Even now, when a powerful enemy has driven us into a corner, I would hardly say that we've 'come together'" Eren said.

"Indeed. If we don't get our act together soon, even fighting will be tough." Pixis replied.

They approached a station with Garrison soldiers keeping watch at the cannons.

Hannes noticed them. "Eren?!"

Eren blinked and turned to him as they walked by. Hannes smiled, knowing that Eren and the others were alright. But he wondered what Eren was doing with Pixis.

Pixis pulled out a flask and took a swig. He held it out behind him.

"Would you like some?" Pixis offered to Eren.

"Thank you, sir!" Eren replied and accepted it.

When he took a swig, he froze and his face twisted in disgust. He turned his head to the side and spat it out.

"Kill me! If you're gonna execute me, just do it already!"

"Fine, I'll do it!"

The soilders continued to make a scene.

Pixis stood at the edge of the Wall and cleared his throat.

"ATTENTION!"

His voice carried out below, quieting the crowd. "I will now explain to you the details of the Trost Recovery Operation! The objective of this operation is to seal the hole in the demolished gate!" Pixis explained.
