"What do you mean, she's dying?" Claude demanded and Lucas ran his hand through his hair.
"I-I should have left earlier than usual... No, no, no, this is bad..." Lucas was muttering to himself as he looked extremely agitated.
"Lucas?" Athanasia shouted making him look at her.
"Tell me, exactly what happened that day and after she woke up." Lucas demanded.
Athy started explaining him everything that had happened and whatever other details she couldn't that was filled in by others.
Lucas gritted his teeth as he looked at Ara.
"This..." He sighed as he plopped down on the bed beside Ara holding his head in his hands.
"She... defeated that demon but she couldn't do anything about that curse because it's not something that she could do." He said.
"I had tried to stop her hundreds of times from absorbing that shit from..." Lucas spoke looking at Claude.
"For how long was she doing that?" Claude spoke.
"Since she was 5 or so." Claude felt as if the land had slipped from under his feet and even Athanasia couldn't believe it.
"I had warned her, I was taking it out of her every time she would show up with it, but she... she knew it could kill her that's why she was taking it away from him!"
Claude and Athanasia were finding it hard for believe, she was doing that since she had met Claude?!
"Ara..." Athanasia looked at Ara's sleeping form.
Lucas walked up to her and placed his finger over her forehead. The paleness of Ara's face lightened and she looked a bit better.
Suddenly there was a crackle and a purple light flashed through the room making everyone gasp.
"It's not something even I can interfere with..." Lucas said as he sighed.
"It's a curse, to punish those who delve into Black Magic. She made a deal with a demon... She managed to save her soul but... this curse wouldn't leave her easily." Lucas said leaving the grim silence.
"I can't retrieve her memories either, and even her magic is in a mess. But if she's still managing to use it then... it must be really painful for her. You said she was having terrible headaches, right?" Lucas said and Athanasia nodded.
"She... must be in so much pain that it would be even hard for her to get up each day and do things, how was she enduring it all?"
Athanasia couldn't help but feel a chill run down her spine as she recalled every time Ara had used magic after recalling her memories as Athelinda and even after defeating that demon. Was she in pain through all that?
Felix and Lily exchanged glances as they had seen Ara go to the training grounds and train with the knights.
"You said she keeps that Chi-" Lucas looked at Claude who seemed to be in shock.
"Well, since it's come to this just fuck it!" Lucas sighed as he continued.
"Ara is keeping that Chimera close, right?" Lucas asked and Athanasia looked once at Claude and others before she nodded.
"The reason is the magic that she exudes is acting like a stabilizer for Ara. The Chimera is expressing her desire to be loved." Lucas said and Athanasia looked once at Claude who was frowning.
"The black magic that your Dad used was broken before it could be completed, however Ara managed to take it all from him but now if I try to break it, she'll die!"
