Later at night, while having dinner in their room, Kevin, on Toshi's behalf, expressed his desire to be a soldier for the US military for a while to his siblings.

Ron was very surprised to hear that because he knows that Kevin never told him about his future career.

  "Why?" he asked back.

"I want to fight," Kevin responded back, "just like Wesley-senpai."

"You want to be a soldier, kuya?" Maria asked. "As in, your main career?"

"No, just for a few years," Kevin replied while eating. "Then I'll decide what will be my actual career after that."

Ron, Juan, and Maria then get what he had said.

"Okay, if that is what you want to do for a few years," Ron responded back, "then okay, let's go to Kaleb to see if he would allow that or not."

"Thanks, big brother!" Kevin happily replied.

And so, the next morning after breakfast, Kevin and Ron went up to the base's main headquarters to meet up with Kaleb so Ron would ask him if he would allow Kevin to be a soldier for them. There Kaleb was now considering it, including its downsides and advantages. He then plainly responded, "I'm not sure about that, Kevin. I mean, you're too young to be a soldier. And plus, you're not even in high school yet."

"But I'm skillful," Kevin insisted back. "I think the main advantage is to use melee weapons because unlike guns, they don't run out of ammo, and can be used for close combat."

Kaleb now realized that he had completely forgotten about one of the foundations of warfare: close combat.

Eventually, he agreed with Kevin and responded, "Okay, sure. Your training will start today. I'll be your instructor."

To that Kevin became enthusiastically excited, and he became Toshi and replied with a salute, "We'll do our best, sir!"

Ron knows that it was Toshi who took the spotlight, while Kaleb didn't get the word 'we'. But Ron eventually revealed to Kaleb about Toshi's short takeover. Kaleb then get it now.

And so, at the base's fitness training ground, Kevin's training began with easy military exercises, where Kevin had to do a lot of push-ups in one go. That number of repetitions for that one session is over 65. Kevin, under the guidance of Kaleb, was having an easy time at first, but gradually, as he kept on doing it, he was having some difficulties doing it, up to the point of collapsing. But, he and Toshi, alongside Kako, are determined not to collapse until the end of the session.

"We can do this together!" Kevin thought in his mind in determination.

After that, at 9:45 a.m., Kevin was forced to run for kilometers while carrying a heavy backpack on his back. But, due to Kevin's age and body size, the weight of the backpack was readjusted for him, much to Ron's relief. He ran around the base in circles for 30 minutes. But still, he, Kako, and Toshi are very determined to finish that, too, even up to the point of pain while running.

After that running exercise, Kevin took a 30-minute break by reading and writing to rest his mind off. He was determined to be strong.
