"We'll stay at the same hotel as last year," Evangeline said with her eyes on the road, driving her blue Camaro carefully through the city's traffic that was slowly disappearing. "Hey, you donated thirty-five thousand to a charity foundation, you should be happy, don't you think?"

"I am, I guess," Jade nodded, and then her cell phone vibrated. She checked it. It was a message from Frank.

She grumbled and put her phone back in her purse.

"Aren't you going to answer?" Evangeline asked.

"I think Frank is in love with another girl," Jade said, looking out the window with sad eyes, lost in thought.

"And you think that girl is me because of the Femme Fatale song, don't you?." Evangeline took another turn and drove even more carefully into a narrow street, "Do you think Frank loves me?"

"No, I didn't say that." Jade shook her head, her eyes filling with tears that she wiped away hastily with a hand, "You're my best friend, he would never... That is, if he loved you, would you give it a chance?"

"If I'm your best friend, you're the one who's left out of the equation because I got here first," Evangeline said, taking a quick look at Jade, "But you know something? Frank is a part of my past that I can't let go of. He's like a little brother to me now, so don't feel bad"

"But I'm the third wheel, am I not?"

"No, I didn't say that," Evangeline chuckled.

"Well it sounded like that."

"It's okay. I would never. And don't be silly, he doesn't love me that way."

"I know he does. He adores you, I can see it in his eyes," Jade sighed deeply, "He can't be in love with two people at once."

"Says the girlfriend of seven famous guys," Evangeline laughed.

"Frank must have written a lot of songs for you. The lyrics of Monster Match seem to me to be addressed to you too."

"Monster Match? No, I've never slept with any of the guys," Evie laughed, "That song? That was Everett."

"Oh really?" Jade gave her a confused look.

"Yeah," Evangeline sighed heavily, "Everett has a past, a girl he loved and never came back..." She paused for a moment, trying to gather her thoughts while also keeping an eye on the speedometer, "On one of my missions in 2016, long before I became a bodyguard, I killed many members of a Hunter Academy knock-off which was led by a Yeti descendant of House Freezakov and I set the place on fire. However, one of the hostages managed to escape and became a huge fan of mine. The girl Monster Match is about was one of the girls trapped inside the Freezakov Academy when I set the place ablaze. She was able to escape, and grew to admire me so much that she wanted to supplant me and take a Hunter mantle for herself. She didn't distinguish between Yetis, so when she saw Everett, I guess she thought he was like her former slaver."

"So she was not a Hunter?"

"No, she just wanted to act like she was. This girl, she seduced Everett and tried to kill him in his sleep but I did what I had to. She was one of the two girls that Zeth, Alex, Draco and Everett... You know, that thing called group sex... They were still under a 'mental influence' so they weren't thinking with their heads," Evangeline looked down, avoiding Jade's eyes, "She's the girl Everett wrote Monster Match about."

"I don't want you to blame yourself for something you had no choice to do," Jade said quietly, "But I want to know... Are there actual hunters out there?"

"Unemployed, but some work for people with money... Like my step-sister." Evangeline nodded and stayed silent for a long time, before speaking up again, "I don't want you to be sad because of this, because... Because Frank is in love with you. Don't go breaking that boy's heart, not tonight at least"
