"What are you writing, Alex?" Draco asked, checking the wolf's crooked handwriting on the paper.

"Some nonsense, I'm brainstorming," Alex said, showing Draco some sheets of illegible cursive writing, "But I think it matches what Zeth wrote perfectly."

"You can read that?!" Kevin blinked rapidly, reaching across the table to take the pages, "I need a translator. It's like a doctor's handwriting,"

"Oh! I can read that! You should see how we wrote in Evalon, that required an entire postgraduate in literature!" Draco laughed, and blushed a little as he took the pages from Kevin's hand.

God! He was so cute! Kevin never got tired of seeing that tender smile, those eyes full of life. Draco was everything he wanted, a sweet boy, overactive, even a little silly. Kevin didn't know much about Draco's past, but there was something about the hug they shared, a connection, a feeling that they both knew what it was like to be in each other's skin.

And then there was that kiss! It was the best kiss of Kevin's life!

But there was something else, a secret that Kevin still hadn't told anyone, the reason why he almost never met with Alex at the strip club and only Glitter Joe knew about, and he hoped that secret, that would inevitably see the light, wouldn't be an impediment for Draco to see him the way he was right now.

Zeth probably already knew about that secret, about that past, after all Evie was very good at investigating people. Maybe Zeth was just pretending not to know anything, maybe he had taken it upon himself to erase all traces of it, after all, a year had passed and nothing was still known.

Alex clearing his throat broke the moment.

"You know? I can read cursive too," Alex said, and perhaps his jealousy was already very obvious from the way he clenched his teeth, "I can translate it for you, Kevin. I could read Draco and Zeth's handwriting long before you arrived."

"Thanks, Alex," Kevin said, smiling as always. Now Alex understood why his smile bothered Draco so much, "Zeth's is impossible to read sometimes. Did you learn to read cursive from Draco here?"

"Not really, my dad writes cursive and..." Alex sighed, "And I never could write that way because I'm not 'elegant' like the rest of my family."

"Well, I'm not elegant either," Kevin laughed. It was the first time his laughter irritated Alex.

"I was never elegant either, and my family was the most 'elegant' in Evalon," Draco rolled his eyes, "They were also the most dishonourable and cruel. You can ask the extinct House Collem, my father ordered the execution of all of them when he became Duke of Bloodstone. My entire family was cruel, particularly with me. Everyone was an asshole, although sometimes Bloodimir treated me well, very sometimes."

"Can relate, my family always treated me with contempt. Being the child of an affair is hard," Alex said, and he put his hand in Draco's, who seemed surprised and looked at their hands together. He would have wanted this a year ago, but now he was not so sure. "I've never been well-regarded by anyone in my family."

"Are you the child of an affair?" Kevin's eyes widened and Alex nodded.

"Bastard is the right word," Alex said, narrowing his eyes.

"You know?" Draco began, clearing his throat, "Zeth 'The Conqueror' had a bastard cousin, a man known as Mad Frank. Zeth witnessed Frank's struggle for many years, saw him raise his voice only to be heard by no one and knew how much it affected him and everyone around him. Zeth couldn't stand it, so he rather frequently had to threaten people with his dragon to ensure the word of his cousin would be heard."
