Chapter 78

My eyes opened, and I was in what looked to be a hospital room. I say up and saw Stiles sitting in the chair next to me.

"Hey, hot stuff." I said in kind of a joking way. But it didn't matter. He didn't say anything. His eyes stayed fixated on my pillow. "Stiles?" He didn't answer once again. So I got up. "Stiles!"

My eyes drifted to the pillow. It had me laying on it.

"You know, Bails, I don't even know if you're ghost or whatever you are can hear me. But I'm gonna talk anyways. Because you need to hear this. Or rather, I need to say this." His hand was over my bodies. "I always held up hope you'd come back to me, and we would rasie our daughter as a couple. But I guess things don't always work out the way you want it too."

"Me too." I tried to hug him but I just went straight through him.

"Come on Bails." He hit my hand. "Open those beauty brown eyes and come back to me. You've done it before, you can do it again. Just please wake up. If not for me for our daughter." The door opened and Melissa came in and Stiles jumped up. "Melissa, is she gonna be okay?"

"Stiles." Melissa had tears in her eyes. "I'm so sorry."

"No! She has a heart beat. She not gone!" He yelled at her.

"The scan shows she has no brain activity. I'm sorry Stiles. Bailey's gone." Tears came rushing out of both their eyes.

"No! She can't be gone. She's immortal. She's a mom and a doctor. Bailey can't be gone." He cried and fell to the floor.

Melissa knelt down and rapped her arms around him. They both just cried.

Stiles left about an hour ago. He had to go tell Cristy.

Now Lydia and Allison had came in. "Where's Stiles?" Lydia asked. She had puffy eyes and they were red. She had been crying.

"He went to tell Cristy." Allison said moving a piece of hair out of my face.

They both stayed in silence for a minute. Then Lydia spoke up. "I can't believe she's actually gone."

"Me neither." Allison said not even shifting her eyes away from my body.

There was another moment of awkward silence. Then Lydia spoke again. "You know, She was the person who told me everything. She was always honest with me. I miss her. She was my best friend."

Normally Allison would have made a comment somewhere along the lines of "I thought I was your best friend." But instead she said "Mine too."

"I love you, Bails." Lydia placed her hand on my shoulder.

"I love you too, Lyd." I said knowing full well she wouldn't hear me, but I just had to say it.

I have spent 4187 days in hell. Every day I have been tormented by my no humanit self telling me to give her control. Which every time I refused.

I never understood why she wanted control. I was dead. And to my knowledge not coming back anytime soon.

But one day she had an idea. An idea that made me give up completely. She pulled me to earth's watching room. Where she played a video for me.

It was of Lydia and Stiles. They were in Lydia's office. I had to watch for about 3 minutes before I saw what no humanity me wanted me to see. They were kissing.

I didn't even think about it. I didn't think about how Stiles wouldn't do that. He promised me he wouldn't date until Cristy had graduated. She was still a few years away from that. I just said "Fine, I'll give you control."

She grabbed my hand and like that, my humanity was gone. And honestly it felt like a complete relief to not care. To not feel anything. It was just freeing.

 It was just freeing
