The Incident: Book 7, Part 6.
W/ Jace And Kennon, In the abandoned and destroyed auto-repair shop.
Jace's POV/1st Person:
I had heard footsteps approach, several of them. I tensed up, and I decided to stay put, Continuing to stare straight up at the sky. Though a part of me wanted to find out who it was, Though After minutes of Staying in Hiding, My curiosity got the best of me as I looked over the wall to see who it was. No way. I don't know If I was seeing this right, But I Saw Karis. But she was with two other guys, who appeared to be soldiers. She looked in my direction, As If She had caught me. I pulled myself back behind the wall And Closed my eyes, hoping she wouldn't approach. Kennon tapped me on the shoulder. I flinched slightly, not realizing that he was awake or something. I don't know why I thought he was sleeping. "Jace, There's people here!" he exclaims in a low whisper. I sigh, "I Already know that Kennon! I saw it myself!" I whisper. Ever since he didn't follow instructions, he always pointed out the obvious, without even thinking that MAYBE the person right next to them saw the same thing? His outbursts were the same level of an 8 year old Boy. "And Stay quiet. If they approach us, Let. Me. Handle. It. Got it?" I say to Kennon, Who only nods. I really hoped he listened, just this time, he would do what I Say. I looked back at Karis, who was standing next to the two soldiers. Despite the close proximity, I couldn't make out what they were saying. I strain my ears to even pick up on something, but there was no joy in my attempt. "Why won't we just talk to them face-to-face, instead of Hiding?" Kennon says. I sighed In frustration, I just wanted to yell at him to just let me handle it, But Somehow I was able to restrain myself. Apparently We must've looked over the wall for too long, Because Karis had started to take a double look at us and from the two Men. before Doing what Exactly what I hoped she wasn't going to do. Walk in our direction. "Hello?" She called out, hesitantly but confidently. I pulled Kennon back behind the wall, and Tried to avoid Karis, But obviously It hadn't worked, I don't know what I was thinking in that situation, Like that wall would seriously hide us. She peeked around the corner, her confused expression turning into one of shock. "Jace? Kennon?" She says.

Kennon's POV/1st Person:
I stare, Silently. This random person know our names? I look to Jace who was just speechless. That girl that had just spotted us shared our expressions, but she crashes into Jace and Hugs her tight. Jace flinches and stands frozen. The girl had turned to me and smiled. "Kennon!" She walked over and got ready to hug me as well, but Something in me just went off and I immediately sidestepped, Jace stared at us with a blank expression. "Karis-" Jace says. I look at Jace's direction. So her name was 'Carrots'? Did I hear that right? "Your.. Name is 'Carrots'?.." I spoke out loud to the girl. Jace looked like she wanted to laugh, but quickly masked her neutral expression once more. The girl looked at me. "I-.. No?" She says, tilting her head slightly. She looked surprised, and even a little, or a lot.. Hurt. "Hell, Kennon. Her Name is Karis. K-A-R-I-S. Karis." Jace corrects. "I- Do we know her..?" I muttered silently to Jace who only quickly nodded, maybe that was A signal from her to me to play along. I cast a suspicious glare at Jace. I really hope she'll explain this later. "Karis?" An Older male voice called out. Jace narrows her eyes at Karis. Maybe she had explaining to do as well. "They are soldiers that took me in, when I was lost. After we all got split up?" Karis hurriedly explained. "Where's Sergeant Rudo?" Jace asked. I looked between the two of them, and I Saw Karis's Face immediately turn solemn. I could Tell Jace immediately expected the worst when Karis didn't answer. "No- No. HOW?" Jace practically yelled. I started to get confused and worried, cautiously taking a step back as.. Greater emotions started to overcome Jace. More So stress and anger.. And maybe confusion.
"..Enzo." Karis only says. I wanted to ask, "Who's Enzo?' so bad, but I knew that they probably wouldn't appreciate any more questions from me at the moment, so I decided to keep my mouth shut. "Karis, where'd you go?" The same voice called Out. Karis sighs, shaking her head and all of a sudden she yanks us by the arm and pulls us towards the direction The voice called out, twice already. It was a younger guy and an older guy, and they appeared to be soldiers. They were standing by the river, and the voice that had called out apparently belonged to the older guy, because he spoke again and looked in our direction. "Karis, What where you doi-" He froze, and raised a brow. The older guy immediately seemed defensive. His gaze traveled from Karis, To Jace, To Me, Then back to Karis. "Karis-" The older man Started. I wince, knowing what he was about to do. Most likely Scold this 'Karis' Girl. "MSG. Smith, Please- look. These are my friends, I've known them for a long time, even before I ran into you two." Karis quickly explained. I opened my mouth to say something, but Jace might've known exactly what I was about to say, because she gave me a secretive but hard jab in the side of my ribs. I wince, rubbing the sore spot. I looked at Jace who just gave me a 'Don't say anything and go with it look. I already told you that I'll tell you after we're out of the spotlight.' look. I sigh, averting my gaze and turning to Look back At The two men and Karis who's backs were facing us now, having a Silent conversation. Minutes later, Karis looked at us then back at the two soldiers. "So?..." Karis says to The guys. The older one, apparently known as Master sergeant Smith.. spoke up. "You know what. Fine. they can stay, But we'll keep an eye on them. Let's just continue to do what we came here for." He says. I nod. This man was taking Me and Jace into their group without any more questions asked, and we need to be grateful for that. Let's just hope it stays that way.
