The constant ringing was annoying. FUCKING ANNOYING. With a loud groan that sounded similar to a growl, Shinsou flung his arm wide, smashing his fist angrily against the charging phone on his nightstand. The shrill ring continued as he blindly groped to turn off the offending noise. Mid ring it stopped. Shinsou sighed in relief, snuggling deeper under his thick duvet, his eyes so heavy he couldn't ever imagine having the strength to pry them open. Until reality came crashing down.

"Shit!" He hollered, realizing that the noisome ringing had not in fact been his alarm, but his ringtone. And also that he was late. Oh so very late.

He sat bolt upright, adrenaline whisking away every last bit of melatonin as he snatched up his phone, his heart sinking as he took in the time and seven missed calls; two from his mom, and five from his boss Aizawa. Aizawa must have called her, as she was his emergency contact, when he didn't show up for his shift and didn't answer his phone. With soft a string of swears, he quickly sent out two texts, one to Aizawa to with an apology and to tell him he was on his way, and the other to his mom informing her that he wasn't dead.

From there it was a race around his small apartment, first a quick stop in the bathroom to shit, shower, shave; then to his closet where he quickly grabbed his themed uniform for the day, sloppily stuffing it into his backpack. He was out the door in ten minutes.

"How nice of you to show up, Shinsou," Aizawa drawled as Shinsou breathlessly barrelled through the back door of Butlers For All.

Shinsou felt a hot flush of embarrassment sweep over his normally fair, almost washed-out complexion. "I'm so sorry," he griped, staring down at his scuffed sneakers. "I overslept."

"Again?" Aizawa's gruff yet soft tone made Shinsou lift his head to meet his boss's concerned eyes. "Is the insomnia bad again? Did you go to your doctor?"

"Yeah, and he was zero help, just like I told you he would be," Shinsou said with a lazy roll of his eyes. "I'll be okay. I've had insomnia all my life. I can deal."

Aizawa let out sigh of air from his nose, his mouth pursed. "Something's gotta change, Shinsou. You're a good employee, but you can't be late all time."

Shinsou gulped down a sudden lump in his throat, the guilt of letting down the man he considered his mentor weighing heavily on him. "Yes, sir. I understand."

Aizawa nodded, stepping forward to awkwardly pat him on his shoulder. "Alright, go get changed."

Shinsou rushed to the break room, changing in record time into the themed cat outfit; a purple suit that complimented his indigo hair, complete with purple cat ears and tail.

"Well this is hideous," he grumbled under his breath as he adjusted his Windsor knotted tie in the full length mirror. But as ridiculous as he felt in the over the top outfit, the cat themed day was always a huge hit. People went nuts for it every time so Shinsou understood why Toshinori, his other boss and co-owner of Butlers For All, had mandated the outfits to be wore once a month for Cat Day.

With one last cringe at his reflection, he raced to the kitchen to wash his hands before heading out into the dining room, only to stop short and stare in horror at the sight before him: He. Was. The only one. Dressed. As. A. CAT!

Kaminari's loud cackle turned Shinsou's head in his direction. "I didn't realize it was Halloween today, Shin!"

Everyone in the kitchen snickered good-naturedly, even shy and sweet Tamaki, as Shinsou let out another groan. Today was not his day.

He spun around to Aizawa who was trying, and failing, to not smile as he poured himself another mug of coffee. "Please let me run home and grab my regular suit. I got mixed up and thought today was Cat Day."
