You never had a thing for fast cars. Your dad and uncle died when you were pretty young, because of a racing incident and ever since that, you didn't want a single thing to do with it. When you met Pierre Gasly, you had no idea who he was. You fell in love with him, but he's a Formula One driver. You had tried to push him away, but he came back, and your feelings towards him were so strong. You had talked to Pierre about what happened to your dad and uncle, and he understood if you didn't want to see the races. At first, you were okay with it. When Pierre was gone, you just tried not to think about it too much, but that failed. You were watching every race from home, hoping that he would make it out of the car alive. Ever time he was gone for a weekend, you were so anxious. You barely slept at night, couldn't eat that much and you were just a mess.

Pierre noticed how your mood changed over the weeks. You became more distant, and he had no idea what to do. He had talked with Charles Leclerc about it, and Pierre came to a conclusion to invite you over for a race. You could have a look behind the scenes and see how they were trying to make everything as safe as possible.

That's how you ended up in the drivers room of your boyfriend in the Alpha Tauri motor home. You sat on the chair, your leg bouncing up and down. Being on an actual track has made your anxiety go through the roof. Pierre had all his gear out on a table, explaining everything to you. 'First, of, we have fireproof socks. The suit is also fireproof, just like the balaclava and the gloves. Of course, we have the helmet, which is obvious. Then the hans, it restricts maximum neck movement. If we're in a crash, it can save us from a serious injury. That's just our gear. Through the years, they've tried to make the car as safe as possible too. Since 2018, the halo on the car is mandatory, which protects us. If an object would be flying towards us from another car our own car in an accident, the halo can keep it from hitting our heads. We have marshals all over the track. They are the first on the scene of an accident, and they can help us. If the car catches fire, they are going to do their best to put out the fire. We also have a headrest, and there are so many more thing that helps us being save. Accidents happen, yes, but they can happen like all the time. You can get out of bed and get hurt, I don't know. You can't help these things. Yes, of course, the risk is higher, but still. We all want to go home after the race. We all try to do our best to be safe. Pyry is going to stay with you in the garage. If you have any questions, you can ask him. If you need to get out to get some air, just ask him to come with you, because he can help you. You don't have to worry alone, okay?'

'Alright. I'm not going to promise anything, but I'll try to watch as much as I can.' You really wanted to support your boyfriend, and you could see that it meant a lot to him, so the least thing that you could do was try.

There was a knock on the door before it opened. Pyry, Pierre, his performance coach, walked into the room.

'You guys ready?'

Pierre looked at you.

'Yes,' you said and stood up from the chair.

The three of you walked to the Alpha Tauri garage. Pierre was getting ready to get in his car. Pyry gave you a set of headphones, so you could listen to the board radio.

You turned to Pierre before he puts his helmet on. 'Be safe, okay, and I love you,' you said and quickly kissed him.

'I love you too. I'll see you in a few hours,' he smiled and put on his helmet. He got in his car, and he was off.

You sat down on one of the chairs in front of the screens and looked at the race. Your leg was still bouncing up and down, and you were twisting your fingers a lot, but somehow you felt a little less anxious, knowing all the safe things. They tried to make it as safe as possible.

During the race, you had a few questions for Pyry, but most of the time, your eyes were focussed on the screen. Pierre finished P5, which was his highest finish this season.

Pierre walked into the garage with a big smile on his face.

'There is my favourite driver,' you smiled and hugged him before you kissed him.

'Did you enjoy watching the race? How much did you see?'

'I saw everything. It has made me less anxious knowing everything you told me, so thank you. I'm proud of you. P5. It was amazing to see you race so hard.'

'Thank you, mon amour. I'm proud of you too. I know how anxious it has made you and I'm always here for you if you ever want to talk about it or whatever. I'm proud of you for staying and watching the race. I really enjoy having you here.'

'It's going to take a while to get comfortable, but I'll be fine. I hope I can come more often.'

Pierre, his smile got even bigger when he heard you saying that. 'Of course! You can come every weekend if it's up to me,' he said, which made you laugh. It was going to take a while to get less anxious being around fast cars, but Pierre loved it, and you noticed how happy he was when you said that you wanted to come to more races, so you were going to try your best because you love him.
