I watched Aria walk through the double doors and she ran towards where I was sitting.

"Spence oh my god what happened?"

I looked up at her with my tear stained face.

"Toby was shot, and there's no news yet." I choked and started crying again.

She sat down next to me and wrapped her small arms around me.

"I'm so sorry Spence."

"Do you want me to call the others?"

"You can, if you want."

She pulled out her phone and dialed Hanna, Caleb, and Ezra's numbers.

We all sat there waiting for hours.

"Ms.Hastings?" A doctor walked up to me.

"Yes." I wiped me cheeks and looked up.

"We've successfully removed the bullet."

I sighed with relief.

"But, he lost a lot of blood during the surgery."

"Okay, can you give him a transplant."

"We have, but it's also not that simple. Considering everything. The bullet ricocheted from his lower abdomen where he was shot, up to his left lower rib and shattered it."

Hanna gasped from beside me.

"Is he stable?"

"Technically yes."

"So, we can see him."

"Yes...."

I shot up from my seat.

"But,"

"But...what?"

"He's in a coma."

And that's when my whole world collapsed.

"He's in room 215 if you'd like to see him."

I fell to the floor on my knees as she walked away.

"Do you want to go see him?" Aria rubbed my back.

I nodded my head.

"The doctor said room 215."

I opened the door and walked in to see Toby laying peacefully on the bed. I walked over and pulled a chair up beside him, and laced our fingers together.

"Why'd this have to happen?"

"Spence were all gonna go home. Are you coming?"

"No, I think I'm going to stay here."

"Okay." She shut the door behind her as she left.

I stood up and pulled Toby's blanket back to see where he was shot. Sure enough across his stomach a huge line of stitches lay.

"Why do you always have to protect me?"

"Because he loves you." A different doctor said coming in.

"Sorry to bother your time together, but I need to check his vitals."

"It's alright."

"When do you think he'll wake up?" I asked her.

"Honey, I thought they'd told you by now."

"Told me what?"

"It's not the matter when he wakes up, it's if he wakes up." She smiled at me and walked out of the room.

"What."
