"He didn't mean any of that." Caleb assured me.

"It's sure sounded like it." I clutched my coffee.

"I'll go talk to him."

"Thank you." I said as I watched him walk up stairs to Toby's loft.

Sunday morning; 5 hours before Spencer's plane leaves:

'Will you meet me it's important?' I pressed the send button.
'Fine, where?'
'The grill. 5 minutes.'
'Okay.'
'Thank you'
'I'll be there soon.'

I drove to the grill and sat down and a table and waited for him to arrive.
"Thank you for coming."

"Your welcome."

"We need to talk."

"Oh we're on speaking terms."

"You made it pretty clear you never wanted to see me again yesterday."

"Ya, I guess." He shrugged.

"Have you talk to Kati?"

"No, and why would you care?"

"Toby! Do you hate me? Because your sure acting like it. God." I pressed my hand to my forehead.

"No, I don't hate you."

"Then what is all this?"

"I just want to know something."

"What is it you want to know?"

He paused for a minute having complete silence.

"So what exactly is this...between us?"

"I don't know."

"Really? Are you sure you don't know?"

"What the hell are you saying?"

"Why did you sleep with me?"

"I told you it was in the heat of the.."

"Ya, ya, we both know that's a bunch of bull. Why did you really do it?"

I looked down.

"Spencer?"

"Because I still love you okay! There's your answer! Are you happy?" I stood up and threw my coffee away and walked in the other direction.

"Oh no that's not fair you can't just walk away!"

"Oh ya? Watch me!" I yelled as he chased after me.

He grabbed my arm and turned me toward him, as he towered over me.

"You may love me, but I don't know what I'm going to do with my feelings for you." His grip on my arm tightening.

"Then let me go. If you can't decide." I struggled to get free.

"Must be really hard for you. Can't make up your mind between your girlfriend and your ex."

He stared into my eyes. He almost looked angry.

"Spencer, don't go there."

"You have a girlfriend Toby. Who loves you and I'm leaving in a few hours." I shook my head.

"I don't love her. I'm sorry. And Spencer if there's one thing I know, is that no matter how many times you try to run away I'm never letting you go."

I stopped struggling and stared into his eyes. My pulse started racing a million miles a minute.

"I have a plane to catch, Toby."

"You still don't get it do you?"

"Get what?" I finally got released from his grasp.

"I'm going to fight to bring you back, no matter how many swings or punches it takes. Because I love you."

"So you didn't mean anything you said yesterday."

"No."

I breathed out.

"I'm sorry, I said those things I wasn't thinking."

"No it was my fault, I shouldn't have interrupted."

"True."

"Ahh." and I playfully slapped his shoulder.

"I need to go get my luggage from Hanna's and get to the airport."

"I can drive you."

"You sure about that?"

He cocked his head.

"Sorry."

"It's okay, let's go."
