"Thank you for back there," Ashley says as we enter the kitchen.

My jaws tick, but I try my best to control my temper. "It's nothing."

Petrad fi ensure his girl knows her place. She did a do too much likkle while, bredda.

Likkle most she fuck up everything.

Cho bomboclaat...

This was not the plan.

I get that she was just defending her friend, and I admire that, but time and place.

Someone could've really gotten hurt.

And by someone: I mean Ashley.

And how would that help me?

Then she a the next one. Run come inna Lion's den and can't even defend herself.

I stop and turn to face her with an irritated scowl.

Her smile is shy. Always so fucking oblivious. "Such a gentleman."

I look at her deadpan. "I never said I was a gentleman."

Don't get this fucking twisted, now.

"Well, so I've heard..."

I fold my fingers into fists. "Don't believe everything you've heard."

I give her a pointed stare, making sure she gets the drift.

She sighs, shuffling on her feet under my intense stare, before clearing her throat and looking away. "What was that girl's problem, anyways?"

I sigh, closing my eyes and pinching the bridge of my nose to calm down a bit. I'm mad at the wrong person. "She's Amanda's best friend."

First Liv.

Then Gabby.

Now Deidre.

Mi just know Amanda ago hear 'bout this now.

Fuck.

If I'd known it would've turn out this way, I would've let Petrad show his girl the ropes, but that wouldn't have worked if it is I wanted everything to seem realistic.

I hiss my teeth below my breath.

Ashley nods slowly with an incredulous expression on her face. "Oh..."

I stare in her eyes. "Don't worry, we aren't together anymore."

"Oh."

Hmm.

I study her reaction, but she looks genuinely surprised. Either that, or she's pretty fucking good at pretending.

Don't worry, I'll find out which is which soon enough.

"Yeah."

She falls silent and my mind drifts to my phone.

I'm hungry, but I'm not in the mood for going behind the stove right now.

I guess I'll order in then.

Thankfully, everyone's just about leaving anyways.

I pat my pockets for my phone and realize I'd left it in the room.

"Hold on, mi soon forward."

I head there, leaving Ashley behind.

When I pull up the screen, I see that I've received a few notifications.
