WHEN ENTERING A cruise ship cabin for the first time, a normal person would either check out the amenities or jump straight on the bed to lie down for a moment. Niyah on the other hand stood outside her junior suite, gazing at the closed door.
She ordered, "Myra I need you to go to our parents' suite for a while."
"You said we are staying in the same room."
"We are and I can confirm that you'll find papa doing the same thing what I'm about to do to our cabin."
Not far in the corridor of the tenth deck, Noorie stepped out of the two bedroom grand suite with Zaynoul. Musa followed and summoned Myra to go with them to a café upstairs. Related to a cop, they are all accustomed to his habits. Musa gave her a thumb up and entered his suite. Niyah swiped the card.
Rule number one is to do a physical inspection.
After stashing the suitcases and her handbag by the door, she took a good look around. Taking her heels off, she grabbed the plush chair and brought it beneath the smoke detector. She stood on top and twisted it open.
There is no hidden camera.
She performed a similar search for the overhead lights and put the chair away. Next came the wall décor, tissue box, three lamps and the power outlets which she used a screw driver. Once again it's a safe zone.
Yet somehow she cannot trust Aryan Sheikh.
Opening one of her suitcases, she pulled out a small silver case. It contained a multi-use bug detector. She swept the entire junior suite and caught only the cruise ship's Wi-Fi signal and the tv-reception. Satisfied, she put it in her handbag and knocked on her father's suite.
Closing the door, she asked, "You find anything?"
Musa shook his head and replied, "No, the room appears fine to me."
Niyah handed him the bug detector. "To be on a safer side"
"Where did you get this?"
"It's a prototype from the Bordeaux lab. They are always attempting to create new gadgets though they are never for sale to the public."
"No thank you"
"Can't you push your ego aside for a moment? This is a matter of our family's safety."
"You realize you are speaking to your father?"
"Yes and I acknowledge that you hate your relatives. You are tolerating their presence on this ship because of Nayir or else you don't care whether they are alive or dead. Please papa, take it, we can't trust anyone."
