Wessam Castle – 31st December 2014

Queen Yasmin, Queen Yasmin, Queen Yasmin...

The chant keeps getting louder and dynamic. Standing next to her husband on the balcony, Yasmin grinned, waved and blew air kisses while her husband's firm hand on her waist emerged far more ostentatious than the cheering.

She scanned through the faces to locate her stepsisters or Malika in a vain attempt. No one's features could be made out clear in the commotion of shrieking people and flashlights that kept rising in the air here and there.

"We are going to be on every social media and news channel tonight," Aryan spoke in her ear and laughed at his graceful wife's shocking face.

"It's a good thing I'm not on social media then."

"How do you feel?" Aryan asked.

"To be honest, I'm speechless and a little hungry." She cackled on the last part.

The wedding banquet took place behind the castle for family members, close friends and important rich people. Medieval torches on the wall and Moroccan lanterns on the well decorated tables were the sources of light in the dim place, setting a cozy and intimate vibe.

Yasmin sat at one long table with her husband, stepfamily, his parents, grandparents and sister. She watched as every family directed to a specific table with their names on a card placed on it.

She received a menu once everyone had settled down. Confused on what to have since she has never tasted most dishes listed except for biryani, she ordered the same as Aryan.

Grilled cheese bites, Filet mignon with green beans, roasted potato with Arabic spices, assorted Baklava, Turkish delights and mint tea

While waiting for their food, she engaged into a light conversation with Aryan. Two minutes later, a waitress placed a fancy plate of chicken skewers and non-alcoholic champagne in front of them.

"Oh no we did not-"

Aryan interrupted, "They are appetizers. Everyone is served the same before dinner."

Yasmin looked aside covering her mouth to stifle an embarrassing grin.

"You should make each other drink from your own glass," suggested Aliyah before the couple could take a sip. "It will be an adorable photograph."

Aryan looked at his parents as if seeking their permission before engaging into what people might call mild romance. They laughed and so did Yasmin, picking up her glass. The camera light flashed on them.

Coyness radiated from her cheeks when she placed her lips at the same spot her husband drank.

The slow ballad perfecting by professionals allowed the atmosphere to slow down. Waiters and waitresses kept going forth and back with large platters.
