Memories

In the end everything is just a memory,
Faded and blurred as time ticks away,
Moments come and go, like waves in the sea,
And all we can do is hold on and sway.

Memories of childhood, sweet and tender,
Of laughter, joy, and carefree days,
Of innocence lost and lessons learned,
Of loves gained and friends parting ways.

Memories of youth, when life was an adventure,
Of dreams and aspirations high,
Of heartbreak and pain, of love and rapture,
Of moments that passed by in the blink of an eye.

Memories of middle age, when time moves faster,
Of career and family and purpose defined,
Of loss and grief, of struggle and disaster,
Of memories that fill the heart and mind.

And in the end, when all is said and done,
When we've lived and loved and lost it all,
When the memories are all that's left, one by one,
We'll hold them close, both big and small.

We'll cling to them like the last breath of air,
As they slip through our fingers like sand,
We'll cherish them, and hold them dear,
And do our best to understand.

For memories are the fabric of life,
The threads that weave and bind us all,
They hold us close, and bring us strife,
But in the end, they'll be our all.

So cherish the moments, live in the now,
For time marches on, never to return,
And when you're old and gray, and wondering how,
You'll have your memories to help you earn.

The love and the laughter, the gains and the losses,
The lessons learned, the battles fought,
For in the end, when all is said and done,
It's the memories that matter most.

So treasure them well, and hold them close,
For they are the jewels of a life well-lived,
And when everything else fades away,
Your memories will forever stay, unrelieved.
