We Mature With Damage, Not Age

We look at the world so young and naive
With eyes wide open, we hardly perceive
The trials that will come as we age
Our strongest assets, yet we disengage

With the first wound, we start to learn
Pain gives rise to wisdom, a bitter turn
We lose our innocence, but gain the key
Unlocking a life that will yet set us free

Some find their peace, in solemn repose
Others turn bitter, and hatred grows
But most learn to dance, with life's melody
Finding new rhythms, in their reality

For some, it takes a lifetime to heal
The pain that they carry from wounds that still feel
Those who understand, will lend a hand
Together, we face the struggles and stand

With every step, we grow more aware
Our lessons learned, beyond compare
Deep in our hearts, the scars still remain
But the strength we gain, makes them no longer a strain

We mature with damage, not with age
Our hardships teach us to calmly engage
The future holds no fear for us, we are ready
Whatever may come, we'll rise up and steady

The truth is, wounds aren't all bad
They make us stronger, a warrior's clad
We learn from the past, and brave the unknown
Our scars appear as seeds, that will be sown

Through our life's journey, we'll find our way
With damaged souls, but stronger each day
Our eyes open wide, we see things anew
The experiences we face, are what mold us, true

So let us never fear a damaged soul,
Embrace the struggle, and make it our goal
To learn and to grow, until we're wise and sage
For we mature with damage, not with age.
